Cowboys (TV Series)
''Cowboys'' is a British television sitcom that aired on the ITV network during the early 1980s. The title refers to the British colloquial use of "cowboy" to describe a workman of doubtful professionalism e.g. a "cowboy builder". Overview Roy Kinnear starred as Joe Jones, the hapless owner of a small building firm. His inept employees include 'Wobbly' Ron ( David Kelly), Geyser (Colin Welland) and Eric (James Wardroper). Debbie Linden appeared in Series 1 as Doreen, with Janine Duvitski taking over as Muriel in Series 2. The show was created by Peter Learmouth who would go on to create Granada television sitcoms '' Surgical Spirit'' and '' Let Them Eat Cake''. Roy Kinnear
Roy Mitchell Kinnear (8 January 1934 – 20 September 1988) was an English character actor and comedian. He was known for his acting roles in movies such as Henry Salt in the 1971 film ''Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory'', Algernon in The Beatles' ''Help! (film), Help!'' (1965), Clapper in ''How I Won the War'' (1967) and Planchet in ''The Three Musketeers (1973 live-action film), The Three Musketeers'' (1973). He reprised the role of Planchet in the 1974 and 1989 sequels, and died following an accident during filming of the latter. David Kelly (actor)
David Kelly (11 July 1929 – 12 February 2012) was an Irish actor who had regular roles in several film and television works from the 1950s onwards. One of the most recognisable voices and faces of Irish stage and screen, Kelly was known for his roles as Rashers Tierney in '' Strumpet City'', Cousin Enda in '' Me Mammy'', the builder Mr O'Reilly in ''Fawlty Towers'', Albert Riddle in '' Robin's Nest'', and Grandpa Joe in the film '' Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'' (2005). Debbie Linden (22 February 1961 – 6 October 1997) was a Scottish-born glamour model and actress best known for her career in England, especially her role as old Mr Grace's secretary in the sitcom ''Are You Being Served?'' (1981). Born in Glasgow, she played roles in various other TV series, such as '' The Professionals'', ''Just Good Friends'', '' Bergerac'', and ''The Bill''; she appeared in several feature films, among them ''Home Before Midnight'' and ''The Wildcats of St Trinian's''. Linden was plagued with a drug problem for years. On the night of 5 October 1997, she died of a heroin overdose at home at the age of 36. Janine Duvitski (born Christine Janine Drzewicki; 28 June 1952) is a British actress, known for her roles in the BBC television sitcom series '' Waiting for God'', ''One Foot in the Grave'' and ''Benidorm''. Duvitski first came to national attention in the play ''Abigail's Party'', written and directed in 1977 by Mike Leigh. Thames Television, commonly simplified to just Thames, was a franchise holder for a region of the British ITV television network serving London and surrounding areas from 30 July 1968 until the night of 31 December 1992. Thames Television broadcast from 09:25 Monday morning to 17:15 Friday afternoon (19:00 Friday night until 1982) at which time it would hand over to London Weekend Television (LWT). Formed as a joint company, it merged the television interests of British Electric Traction (trading as Associated-Rediffusion) owning 49%, and Associated British Picture Corporation—soon taken over by EMI—owning 51%. A cowboy is an animal herder who tends cattle on ranches in North America, traditionally on horseback, and often performs a multitude of other ranch-related tasks. ''Surgical Spirit'' is a British television sitcom starring Nichola McAuliffe and Duncan Preston that aired from 14 April 1989 to 7 July 1995.
