Cove Football Club
The Cove Football Club is an Australian rules football club that was formed in 1983 and later joined the Southern Football League in 1984. From 1984 to 2001, Cove played in the SFL Division 2 competition before joining the combined Division 1 in 2002. The Cove Football Club continues to field teams in both Senior and Junior grades in the Southern Football League. History The Cove Football Club was established in 1984 to cater the communities of Hallett Cove, Sheidow Park and Trott Park by a group of locals despite only planning a club around the early stages of building an oval. The first two seasons saw the newly formed club play as an 'away' team for each ground as they didn't have a secure oval and changerooms yet, with the players training at Morphett Vale. Early 1986 saw the completion of the ground and Cove having their own home ground. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Hallett Cove, South Australia
Hallett Cove is a coastal suburb of Adelaide, South Australia located in the City of Marion south of the Adelaide city centre. It has a population of more than 12,000 people. Adjoining suburbs are Marino to the north, Trott Park and Sheidow Park to the east and Lonsdale to the south. The name Kareildung has been mistakenly ascribed to Hallett Cove as an Indigenous name. Gregory Anderson (born 14 May 1966) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and the Essendon Football Club and Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). The Morphett Vale Football Club is an Australian rules football club first formed in 1895. From 1896 to 1898 there are some records of Morphett Vale playing regular games against teams from the southern metropolitan area of Adelaide, but it is not known if this was part of a formal competition. History In 1899, Morphett Vale joined the Southern Football Association and remained as a participant in this competition until the end of the 1913 season. The O’Sullivan Beach Football Club was an Australian rules football club originally formed in 1977, initially just as an U/13 team in the Southern Football League, gradually building up their teams over the following years. In 1981 they fielded their first senior team, in the Southern Football League Division 2 Reserves competition, and in the following season entered the Division 2 A-Grade competition. O’Sullivan Beach were promoted to the SFL Division 1 competition for the first time in 1987, but dropped to Division 2 after two seasons. The Kangarilla Football Club is an Australian rules football club first formed in 1901. In 1913, Kangarilla joined the Alexandra Football Association, where it participated for the three seasons that competition existed. History Kangarilla joined the Southern Football Association in 1916 where it remained until 1922 when it shifted to the Hills Central Football Association for the 1923 season.
