''Course in Fable'' is the sixth solo studio album by American musician Ryley Walker. It was released on April 2, 2021, through Walker's own Husky Pants Records. The album was produced by John McEntire (of Tortoise and the Sea and Cake). The album combines the folk rock elements of Walker's previous albums with elements of progressive rock and art rock. Critical reception to ''Course in Fable'' was positive, with many critics praising its deviation from Walker's previous albums, integration of prog rock elements, and stylistic diversity. In 2022, Walker released ''Course in Fable Demos and Extras'', consisting of outtakes and alternate versions of the album's material. Ryley Walker
Ryley Walker (born July 21, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Rockford, Illinois. Biography Walker, and critics, have cited the band Genesis and singer-songwriter Nick Drake as early influences. Walker began his career in Chicago's independent music scene after moving there in the early 2010s, releasing several cassette EPs and a vinyl EP. In 2014, he released his debut album for the Tompkins Square label, and followed it early in 2015 with '' Primrose Green'' released on Dead Oceans. Backing musicians Walker employed on ''Primrose Green'' include several noted Chicago jazz and experimental musicians such as Fred Lonberg-Holm. Also in 2015, Walker released an instrumental album, recorded in collaboration with fellow Chicago musician Bill MacKay, entitled ''Land of Plenty''. Ryley is a village in central Alberta, Canada. It is surrounded by Beaver County, along Highway 14 between the City of Edmonton and the Town of Viking. The City of Camrose is approximately south of Ryley. The village was named in 1908 after George Urquhart Ryley, Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Land Commissioner at the time. Demographics In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the Village of Ryley had a population of 484 living in 225 of its 250 total private dwellings, a change of from its 2016 population of 483.
