Courageous (film)
''Courageous'' is a 2011 American independent Christian drama film directed and written by Alex Kendrick with his brother Stephen Kendrick. It is the fourth film by Sherwood Pictures, the creators of ''Flywheel'' (2003), ''Facing the Giants'' (2006), and ''Fireproof'' (2008). Filming in Albany, Georgia concluded in June 2010. The film was marketed by Sony's Provident Films, which also marketed their previous films. Alex Kendrick stars in the film, along with Ken Bevel and Kevin Downes. About half of the cast and crew were volunteers from Sherwood Baptist Church, while the remainder were brought on through invitation-only auditions. ''Courageous'' was released in the United States by Sony Pictures Releasing on September 30, 2011. The film was produced with a budget of $2 million, but on its opening weekend, it grossed $2 million in pre-sales alone and grossed $9.1 million total for the weekend. Alexander Kendrick (born June 11, 1970) is an American pastor, film writer, producer, director, and actor. He is best known for directing and starring in notable faith-based films, including ''Facing the Giants'', '' War Room'', '' Overcomer'', '' Courageous'', and ''Fireproof''. Michael Catt
Michael Cameron Catt (December 25, 1952 – June 12, 2023) was an American film producer, author, and senior pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church from 1989 until his retirement in 2021. He was an executive producer for the 2008 film, ''Fireproof''. He was an author of several books and booklets. He married Terri Catt in 1974, and they had two daughters, Hayley Catt and Erin Bethea, with the latter starring in ''Fireproof''. Catt received an undergraduate degree from Mississippi College, a master of divinity degree from Luther Rice Bible Seminary, and a doctor of ministry degree from Trinity Theological Seminary of South Florida. Harry Edward (Ed) Litton Jr. (born July 17, 1959) is an American evangelical pastor who was the president of the Southern Baptist Convention, elected in June 2021. He also serves as the senior pastor of Redemption Church in Saraland, Alabama.
