There are 28 routes assigned to the "A" zone of the California Route Marker Program, which designates county routes in California. The "A" zone includes county highways in Lassen, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama counties. A1 County Route A1 (CR A1), more commonly known as Route of the Olympic Torch, is a county route in Lassen County, California, United States. It gained its name as a result of being used for a portion of the 1984 Summer Olympics torch relay. County Route A1 runs from Route 36 near Susanville to Route 139 near Eagle Lake. Standish is an unincorporated town in Lassen County, California. It is located southwest of Litchfield, at an elevation of . It lies at the northern terminus of County Route A3 (Standish Buntingville Road) on U.S. Route 395. The name honors Miles Standish. History Standish was laid out in 1897, as the second development of the Associated Colonies of New York, whose job was to "create utopian communities in the West". As a part of this project, Standish was designed based on the beliefs of Myles Standish, and the economic structure was designed based on the ideas promoted by LDS leader Brigham Young. The design of the town was supposed to model European communities which had the majority of residents leaving the village during the day in order to work in the nearby fields. Los Molinos (Spanish for "The Mills") is a census-designated place (CDP) in Tehama County, California, United States. The population was 2,037 at the 2010 census, up from 1,952 at the 2000 census. State Route 99 (SR 99) is a major north–south state highway in the U.S. state of California, stretching almost the entire length of the Central Valley. From its southern end at Interstate 5 (I-5) near Wheeler Ridge to its northern end at SR 36 near Red Bluff, SR 99 goes through the densely populated eastern parts of the valley. Shingletown is a town located along California State Route 44 in the hills just below Mount Lassen. Shingletown has a history of logging large timber, including pine, fir and cedar. Manton, California
Manton is a census-designated place (CDP) partially in Tehama County, California, United States. It is also in Shasta County. The population in the Tehama County portion was 347 at the 2010 census, down from 372 at the 2000 census. History A post office called Manton has been in operation since 1889. According to tradition, the town derives its name from "Man's Town" because a large share of the first settlers were males. In August 2005, the town was overrun by a forest fire which destroyed several homes and forced the evacuation of the entire town. There were no injuries. Dales is an unincorporated community approximately north east of Red Bluff, on California State Route 36, at the intersection of Manton Road (aka Long Road or Tehama County Highway A6), in Tehama County, California, United States. Hooker is an unincorporated area in northwest Tehama County, California, near Hooker Creek. It is an agricultural community. History The community takes its name from J. M. Hooker, who settled near the mouth of Hooker Creek in 1852. Hooker railroad station took its name from the creek. A post office was in operation at Hooker from November 20, 1885. It was reestablished on May 31, 1889, and was closed on October 31, 1928. The community once had a schoolhouse, Hooker School, now defunct. Cottonwood is a census-designated place (CDP) in Shasta County, California, United States. Its population is 6,268 as of the 2020 census, up from 3,316 from the 2010 census. Cottonwood was a stagecoach town where a settlement was established in 1849. The first Post Office was opened in 1852. Cottonwood is equidistant between Redding and Red Bluff, in either direction.
