''Country Willie'' is a 1975 compilation album by country singer Willie Nelson. It was issued by United Artists Records, the successor label to Liberty Records. Background In 1975, despite recording for Liberty, Monument, RCA and Atlantic, Willie Nelson had finally found major mainstream success as a recording artist. As RCA did after Willie signed with Atlantic, United Artists Records began reissuing Willie Nelson tracks it had in their vaults. The first reissue from United Artists, '' The Best Of Willie Nelson'', was a reconfigured version of his 1962 debut for Liberty, '' ...And Then I Wrote'', with "Half A Man", from his second Liberty album, '' Here's Willie Nelson'', added. Willie Hugh Nelson (born April 29, 1933) is an American country musician. The critical success of the album ''Shotgun Willie'' (1973), combined with the critical and commercial success of '' Red Headed Stranger'' (1975) and ''Stardust'' (1978), made Nelson one of the most recognized artists in country music. He was one of the main figures of outlaw country, a subgenre of country music that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound. ''What Can You Do to Me Now'' is a 1975 album by country singer Willie Nelson. Issued after Nelson had left Atlantic Records, then signed with Columbia Records, this album was the third compilation of Willie Nelson songs from RCA in as many years. While 1973's Country Winners and 1974's Spotlight on Willie Nelson appeared on the budget Camden label, this appeared on RCA's full-price Victor. All ten songs were sourced from Willie's earlier RCA albums, using the original stereo LP mixes. However, some of these songs would later be reissued with added overdubs. For example, "I Gotta Get Drunk" appears here in its original studio version; when it was issued as part of the "Willie Nelson Live" album the following year, RCA overdubbed the crowd and applause not present on the original recording. Liberty Records was a record label founded in the United States by chairman Simon Waronker in 1955 with Al Bennett as president and Theodore Keep as chief engineer. It was reactivated in 2001 in the United Kingdom and had two previous revivals. History 1950s Liberty's early releases focused on film and orchestral music. ''...And Then I Wrote'' is the debut studio album by country singer Willie Nelson, recorded during August and September 1962 and released through Liberty Records. Despite Nelson's fruitless efforts to succeed with his recording releases with D Records, and after trying with other labels as a singer, he sold several of his original written songs to other artists. After his composition "Family Bible" became a hit for Claude Gray in 1960, he moved to Nashville, where he was signed by Pamper Music as a songwriter.
