Released from prison early for good behaviour, Mersoiu was rehabilitated back into the national team. At club level, Mersoiu played locally for CSA Steaua București (rugby union), Steaua Bucarest and won a national title with the team in 2003, after which he competed in France with CA Périgueux and then AS Béziers. Focșani (; yi, פֿאָקשאַן, Fokshan) is the capital city of Vrancea County in Romania on the banks the river Milcov, in the historical region of Moldavia. It has a population () of 79,315.
