Cosmic Patrol (game)
''Cosmic Patrol'' is a first-person space combat game programmed by Jake Commander for the TRS-80 Model I and III, published by Instant Software in 1980. Gameplay ''Cosmic Patrol'' is a game in which the player pilots a Terran fighter with a mission to destroy the invading Quelons. The game is very similar to the 1978 Magnavox Odyssey² cartridge ''Cosmic Conflict!''. Reception Jon Mishcon reviewed ''Cosmic Patrol'' in ''The Space Gamer'' No. 34. Instant Software was a company that produced game, utility, and education software in the late 1970s and early 1980s primarily for the TRS-80 line of home computers. Instant Software was a subsidiary of Kilobaud Microcomputing, headquartered in Peterborough, New Hampshire and run by Wayne Green. TRS-80
The TRS-80 Micro Computer System (TRS-80, later renamed the Model I to distinguish it from successors) is a desktop microcomputer developed by American company Tandy Corporation and sold through their Radio Shack stores. Launched in 1977, it is one of the earliest mass-produced and mass-marketed retail home computers. The name is an abbreviation of ''Tandy Radio Shack, Z80 [microprocessor]'', referring to its Zilog Z80 8-bit microprocessor. Space Combat Simulator
Space flight simulation is a genre of flight simulator video games that lets players experience space flight to varying degrees of realism. Common mechanics include space exploration, space trade and space combat. Overview Some games in the genre aim to recreate a realistic portrayal of space flight, involving the calculation of orbits within a more complete physics simulation than pseudo space flight simulators. Others focus on gameplay rather than simulating space flight in all its facets. The realism of the latter games is limited to what the game designer deems to be appropriate for the gameplay, instead of focusing on the realism of moving the spacecraft in space.
