Andrey Petrovich Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky (russian: Андре́й Петро́вич Семёнов-Тянь-Ша́нский) (9 June 1866–1942) was a Russian entomologist specializing in beetles. He was the son of Pyotr Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky. He entered the St. Petersburg University in 1885. Herbert Edward Andrewes (1863, Reading – 1950, Highgate) was a stockbrokerUK Censuses 1891, 1901. 1911 and UK 1939 Register and an English entomologist who specialised in beetles of the order Coleoptera. Herbert Andrewes was one of four sons of engineer and mayor of Reading Charles James Andrewes and his wife Charlotte Parsons. His elder brother was the pathologist and bacteriologist Sir Frederick William Andrewes. Andrewes' initial training was at the forestry school in Nancy, France, now INRA. In 1885, he entered the Indian Forest Service. His next post was at the British Museum (Natural History) where he specialised in Carabidae. He was a prolific author, writing over 120 short scientific papers in addition to catalogues, taxonomic works, faunal monographs and identification manuals. Maximilien Chaudoir, or Maximilien, baron de Chaudoir, (12 September 1816, Ivnitsa, near Zhitomir – 6 May 1881, Amélie-les-Bains) was a Russian entomologist. He was a specialist in Coleoptera and in particular the Carabidae. His Cicindelidae are conserved by the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle in Paris. His Carabidae were acquired by Charles Oberthür (1845–1924), then given to the same museum. He wrote ''Mémoire sur la famille des Carabiques'', 6 volumes commencing 1848. John Nietner
John Nietner born Johannes Werner Theodor Nietner (19 May 1828 - 21 February 1874) was a Prussian-born naturalist chiefly interested in botany and entomology. Born in Potsdam, he became a naturalized British citizen and owned a coffee plantation in Ceylon. During his stay in Ceylon from 1851 to 1874 he collected and described numerous insect species from the island. He also sent specimens for study by experts in Europe and many species such as ''Cethosia nietneri'' were named after him by others. Interested in insect pests, he wrote a booklet on the pests of coffee in 1861.
