Coryneliales
The Coryneliales are an order of ascomycetous fungi within the monotypic subclass Coryneliomycetidae in the class Eurotiomycetes and within the subdivision Pezizomycotina. Species in this order are found almost exclusively in the tropics, primarily as a pathogen on the gymnosperm'' Podocarpus'', although it has been found on other plants like the Southern Hemisphere beech ''Nothofagus'', and ''Drimys''. Taxonomy The order was circumscribed by Fred Jay Seaver and Carlos E. Chardón Carlos Eugenio Chardón Palacios, D.Sc., D.Litt, (28 September 1897 – 7 March 1965) was the first Puerto Rican mycologist, a high-ranking official in government on agriculture during the 1920s, the first Puerto Rican appointed as Chancellor o ... in 1924. The taxonomy as of 2022 recognizes 2 families, 10 genera and 83 species: *Family Coryneliaceae **'' Caliciopsis'' – 36 species **'' Corynelia'' – 16 species **'' Coryneliopsis'' – 2 species **'' Coryneliospora'' – 2 species **'' Fitzp ...

Eremascus
''Eremascus'' is the sole genus in the fungal family ''Eremascaceae''. The genus was circumscribed by Eduard Eidam in 1883, while the family was circumscribed by Adolf Engler and E. Gilg in 1924. ''Eremascus'' is thought to be a basal fungus, from which ascomycetous yeasts formed. Taxa have a widespread distribution, and grow saprobically, especially on substrates with low water content. Morphology Species of ''Eremascus'' produce no arthrospores or conidia. There are generally eight spores produced in each ascus An ascus (; ) is the sexual spore-bearing cell produced in ascomycete fungi. Each ascus usually contains eight ascospores (or octad), produced by meiosis followed, in most species, by a mitotic cell division. However, asci in some genera o .... Eurotiomycetes
Eurotiomycetes is a large class of ascomycetes with cleistothecial ascocarps within the subphylum Pezizomycotina, currently containing around 3810 species according to the Catalogue of Life. It is the third largest lichenized class, with more than 1200 lichen species that are mostly bitunicate in the formation of asci. It contains most of the fungi previously known morphologically as "Plectomycetes". Systematics and phylogeny Internal relationships The class Eurotiomycetes was circumscribed in 1997 by Swedish mycologists Ove Erik Eriksson and Katarina Winka. At that time it only contained the order Eurotiales, which together with the next order added, Onygenales, form a monophyletic group comprising most of the fungi in "Plectomycetes", a group no longer in use that unified fungi under exclusively morphological characteristics. As more orders were added to Eurotiomycetes, the first two along with Arachnomycetales became constrained to the first subclass, Eurotiomycetidae ...

Drimys
''Drimys'' is a genus of about eight species of woody evergreen flowering plants, in the family Winteraceae. The species are native to the Neotropics, ranging from southern Mexico to the southern tip of South America. They are primitive dicots, associated with the humid temperate Antarctic flora of the Southern Hemisphere, which evolved millions of years ago on the ancient supercontinent of Gondwana. Members of the family generally have aromatic bark and leaves, and some are used to extract essential oils. ;Accepted species Seven species are currently accepted.''Drimys'' J.R.Forst. & G.Forst.
