Cory Murphy (ice Hockey)
Cory Murphy (born February 13, 1978) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently a player development coach for the Seattle Kraken. Playing career Undrafted, Murphy played collegiate hockey with Colgate University. Murphy then played five seasons in SM-liiga, the top professional ice hockey league in Finland; two for Blues, two for Ilves and in 2006–07 for HIFK. In the 2003–04 season with Ilves, he was chosen to the series' all-star team. In the 2006–07 season with HIFK, he was awarded Kultainen kypärä for best player in the league, as well as the Lasse Oksanen trophy for best player of the season during regular season play and Pekka Rautakallio trophy for best defenseman of the season. Murphy was a member of the Canadian team in the 2007 IIHF World Championship that won gold in a 4–2 win against Finland in Moscow. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). SM-liiga
The Liiga, colloquially called the Finnish Elite League in English or FM-ligan in Swedish, is the top professional ice hockey league in Finland. The league comprises 16 teams from all around Finland with relegation and promotion between the Mestis. The winner of the Liiga playoffs is awarded the Kanada-malja at the end of each season. Teams from the Liiga participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the European/Asian Kontinental Hockey League). HC Dynamo Minsk
Hockey Club Dinamo Minsk or HC Dinamo Minsk (; , ''Dynama-Minsk'') is a professional ice hockey club based in Minsk, Belarus. It is a member of the Tarasov Division in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Rochester Americans
The Rochester Americans (colloquially known as the Amerks) are a professional ice hockey team based in Rochester, New York. They are the American Hockey League affiliate of the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres. The team plays its home games at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. The Americans are the fourth oldest franchise in the AHL, and have the second longest continuous tenure among AHL teams in their current locations after the Hershey Bears. Kevin Weekes (born April 4, 1975) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played 348 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He is now a studio analyst for NHL Network, appearing on shows like ''On the Fly'' and '' NHL Tonight'', while also calling weekly '' showcase games''. He also calls games on ESPN/ ABC, and makes regular studio appearances during games and on ESPN's weekly hockey show, The Point.
