Maria Cornelia Vreeken (born 22 December 1928), née Corry Bouwman, also Corry Vreeken-Bouwman, is a Dutch chess player who holds the title of Woman Grandmaster (WGM, 1987). She is a five-time winner of the Dutch Women's Chess Championship (1960, 1962, 1964, 1966, 1970). Biography In the 1960s and 1970s, Corry Vreeken was one of the leading Dutch women's chess players. She is five time Dutch Women's Chess Champion: 1960, 1962, 1964, 1966 and 1970, and participated in many international chess tournaments. Cornelius Johannes "Corrie" Sanders (7 January 1966 – 23 September 2012) was a South African professional boxer who competed from 1989 to 2008. He won the WBO heavyweight title in 2003 after knocking out Wladimir Klitschko in two rounds, which was considered one of the biggest upsets in heavyweight boxing history; ''The Ring'' magazine named it the Upset of the Year. Corrie McKeague (16 September 1993 – 24 September 2016) went missing in the early hours of 24 September 2016 in the Bury St Edmunds area of Suffolk, England. Before disappearing, he worked as a Royal Air Force Regiment gunner. McKeague was last seen, on town centre CCTV footage, entering a cul-de-sac which contained a number of wheelie bins. Corrie Grant (14 November 1850 – December 1924) was a British journalist, barrister and Liberal Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Rugby division of Warwickshire from 1900 to 1910. Early life Grant was born in Kettleburgh, Suffolk to Frances Ann and James Brighton Grant, a brewer and maltster who had been imprisoned for non-payment of Church Rates. He was educated at the City of London School, worked as a journalist, and was called to the bar in 1877 at the Middle Temple, after which he practised on the North Eastern Circuit. Henry Corris "Corrie" Gardner (12 March 1879 – 6 August 1960) was an Australian track and field athlete who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics, and played Australian rules football for Essendon Football Club and Melbourne Football Club. Gardner was a member of the Melburnian Hare & Hounds Athletics Club and when aged 25 years old he travelled to St. Louis, Illinois, to compete at the 1904 Summer Olympics, on arrival he was surprised no accommodation had been arranged and was sent to a park to the tent community. In the competition he first entered the long jump, with no qualification round it was straight in to the final, there are no official records of the distance he jumped but it is known he finished outside the first six out of nine athletes. Eric Honeywood Partridge (6 February 1894 – 1 June 1979) was a New Zealand– British lexicographer of the English language, particularly of its slang. His writing career was interrupted only by his service in the Army Education Corps and the RAF correspondence department during World War II. Early life Partridge was born in the Waimata Valley, near Gisborne, on the North Island of New Zealand to John Thomas Partridge, a grazier, and his wife Ethel Annabella Norris.
