Corridos Urbanos
''Corridos Urbanos'' is the first Clorofila solo album after the breakup of Nortec Collective in 2007. Clorofila is the alias for musician / graphic designer Jorge Verdin. Clorofila was one of the projects that formed Nortec Collective, the Tijuana-based genre breaking ensemble that created the Nortec sound, a fusion of banda and música norteña (genres from the North of México) with electronic music and production techniques. Production and background Stylistically, the album followed in the tradition of Nortec Collective's mix of electronic dance music and banda and norteño, but delved deeper into Verdin's interest in atmospheric electronic music, post-punk and disco. Hoping to move away from the Nortec "party band" image, Verdin decided to balance the dance-oriented material with more melancholy, emotionally resonant material of the kind first explored on the Clorofila / Panóptica collaboration ''Olvidela Compa'', which addressed love lost and nostalgia. Clorofila
Jorge Verdin, known professionally as Clorofila, is one of the pioneers of the Nortec (norteño-techno) musical style that originated in Tijuana, Mexico. Clorofila first came to prominence as a member of Tijuana-based music project Nortec Collective, a group formed by various individual producers and performers. He participated on both Nortec Collective albums (''Tijuana Sessions Vol 1'' and ''Tijuana Sessions Vol 3'') under his Nortec identity Clorofila. After the break-up of the collective, Verdin recorded and released two solo albums as Clorofila ('' Corridos Urbanos'' and ''Ahorita Vengo'') and two as Tremolo Audio (''Visitas'' and ''Panorama''), and co-wrote and co-produced an album of atmospheric post-rock with Jose Luis Martin under the name Observador. Nortec Collective
Nortec Collective was a musical ensemble formed by various individual one- or two-man production projects. The group came together in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Their genre mixes electronic music with musical elements and instrumentation of tambora and norteño music, resulting in the nortec ("norteño" + "techno") style. The various projects began producing and performing nortec music around 1999. In 2001, they were signed to a recording contract with Palm Pictures, and released their first album, ''Tijuana Session Volume 1'', under the name Nortec Collective. The line-up for that album included Bostich, Clorofila, Fussible, Hiperboreal, Panoptica, Plankton Man and Terrestre. The latter two would leave Nortec Collective in 2002. Norteño (music)
''Norteño'' or ''Norteña'' (, ''northern''), also ''música norteña'', is a genre of Regional Mexican music. The music is most often based on duple and triple metre and its lyrics often deal with socially relevant topics, although there are also many norteño love songs. The accordion and the bajo sexto are traditional norteño's most characteristic instruments. Norteña music developed in the late 19th century, as a mixture between local Mexican music and Austrian-Czech-origin folk music. The genre is popular in both Mexico and the United States, especially among the Mexican and Mexican-American community, and it has become popular in other Spanish-speaking countries as far as Colombia and Chile. Post-punk
