Corozal barrio-pueblo is an urban barrio and the administrative center (seat) of Corozal, a municipality of Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 2,631. As was customary in Spain, in Puerto Rico, the municipality has a ''pueblo'' which contains a central plaza, the municipal buildings (city hall), and a Catholic church. Fiestas patronales (patron saint festivals) are held in the central plaza every year. History Corozal barrio-pueblo was in Spain's gazetteers until Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Corozal barrio-pueblo (Pueblo) was 1,057. Corozal () is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the central-eastern region, north of Orocovis and Barranquitas; south of Vega Alta; southwest of Toa Alta; east of Morovis and Orocovis; and west of Naranjito. Corozal American Cemetery And Memorial
__NOTOC__ Corozal American Cemetery and Memorial is located approximately three kilometres west of Panama City, Panama. It is in the city of Corozal and is the location of 5,528 American veterans and others. A paved walkway leads from the Visitors' Center to a small memorial that sits atop a knoll overlooking the graves area. The memorial was established in 1923 by Congress to remember people who served overseas. It consists of a paved plaza with a 4-metre rectangular granite obelisk flanked by two flagpoles on which fly the United States and Panamanian flags. The plaza obelisk has engravings in Spanish and English. The English inscription reads: The American Battle Monuments Commission assumed responsibility for the care and maintenance of the Corozal American Cemetery in Panama in 1982. Corozal is a town in Belize, capital of Corozal District. Corozal is located about 84 miles north of Belize City, and 9 miles from the border with Mexico. The population of Corozal, according to the main results of the 2010 census, is 9,871. Corozal was a private estate before becoming a town in the 1840s, mostly settled by Maya Mestizo refugees from the Caste War of Yucatán. Much of the town was built over an ancient Maya city, sometimes known as Santa Rita; this may have been the original Pre-Columbian town called Chactemal, which extended from present day Corozal to Chetumal, Mexico. Frontera Corozal, Chiapas
Frontera Corozal is a mostly Chʼol people, Ch’ol community located in the Mexican state of Chiapas on the Usumacinta River, which separates it from neighboring Guatemala. The community was founded in the 1970s by families migrating from northern Chiapas. It is known for its dock with boats called lanchas which ferry people to the otherwise inaccessible Mayan ruins of Yaxchilan as well as to Bethel, El Petén, Bethel, Guatemala. It is also home to a regional museum, which is centered on two steles found nearby at Dos Caobas. The community is located in the Lacandon Jungle, surrounded by tropical rainforest, but this area has suffered severe damage.
