Cornelius Høyer
Cornelius Høyer (26 February 1741 – 2 June 1804) was a Danish painter, mainly known for his work in miniatures. Within his special trade, he was among the virtuosos of his day and won an international reputation. Early life and education Høyer was born at the Kronborg Rifle Factory. From an early age he attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, studying under Carl Gustaf Pilo and Louis Tocqué, and later continued his education in Paris where Jean-Baptiste Masse taught him miniature painting. A visit to Italy in 1767 introduced him to Rosalba Carriera and he learned new skills, including the special technique of painting on ivory. Career In 1769, Høyer was appointed Miniature Painter to the Danish Court and the following year he became a member of the Academy. Peter Van Hemert
Peter van Hemert (29 May 1734 - 20 May 1810) was a Denmark, Danish merchant and shipowner. His family's trading house, Joost van Hemert & S'nner, existed until 1805. Early life and education Hemert was born in Copenhagen on 20 May 1734, the son of merchant and shipowner Joost van Hemert (1696–1775) and Petronelle Elisabeth Behagen, née Mestecker (1703–78). His mother was the widow of Anthony Behagen (1687–1727)), a wine merchant from Hamburg, and had brought a son, Gysbert Behagen, into the marriage. Peter van Hemert was educated in his father's company. Career In 1765, Hemert was granted citizenship#Middle Ages, citizenship as a merchant. Carl Gustav Pilo
Carl Gustaf Pilo (5 March 1711 – 2 March 1793) was a Swedish painter. Pilo worked extensively in Denmark as a painter to the Danish Royal Court and as professor and director at the Royal Danish Academy of Art (), as well as in his native Sweden. His prolific output in Denmark consisted mainly of portraits of royalty and the nobility, but included also genre paintings in the Dutch style. For over two decades, he was acknowledged as the foremost portrait painter in Denmark. In addition to Peder Als, other students of his were Per Krafft the Younger, Per Krafft and Lorens Pasch. Pilo is most famous for his masterly painting, "The Coronation of Gustaf III" commissioned by King Gustav III of Sweden. Jacob Fortling
Jacob Fortling (23 December 1711 – 16 July 1761) was a German- Danish sculptor, architect and industrialist, described as one of the most industrious people in the Denmark of his day. He came to Denmark at age 18 and embarked on a successful career, first as a sculptor and later also as an architect. He was also engaged in the production of building materials, owning several quarries in Norway. Just outside Copenhagen, on Amager's east coast, he founded Kastrup Værk, a large industrial facility combining a lime plant, a brickyard and a pottery.
