Corey Spring
Corey Spring (born May 31, 1971) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 16 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League. Playing career Born in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Spring began his career in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League with the Vernon Lakers before spending four years with the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He turned pro in 1995 with the International Hockey League's Atlanta Knights. After two high-scoring seasons in the American Hockey League with the Adirondack Red Wings, Spring made his NHL debut for the Lightning during the 1997-98 NHL season, playing eight games in all and scored one goal. He played another eight games the next season for Tampa Bay, with one assist to his credit. He went on to have spells in the IHL for the Cleveland Lumberjacks, Detroit Vipers and Manitoba Moose. Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. Manitoba Moose
The Manitoba Moose are a professional ice hockey team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and a member of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team plays its home games at Canada Life Centre, the home arena of its parent club, Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). The franchise was founded in 1994 as the Minnesota Moose, then playing in the International Hockey League (IHL). Franklin Patrick Spring (born October 19, 1949) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 61 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) and 13 games in the World Hockey Association (WHA). He was born in Rossland, British Columbia and raised in Cranbrook, British Columbia. He played with the St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins, California Golden Seals, Cleveland Barons, and Indianapolis Racers. Family Spring's father, Frank Spring Sr., owned a car dealership in Cranbrook and served as president of the British Columbia Amateur Hockey Association. Long Beach Ice Dogs
The Long Beach Ice Dogs were an American professional ice hockey team based in Long Beach, California at the Long Beach Sports Arena. They played until the end of the 2006–07 ECHL season. History The Ice Dogs trace their origins to the San Diego Gulls, a team in the now-defunct International Hockey League (IHL), that began play in 1990. In 1995, the team moved north to become the Los Angeles Ice Dogs. Due to poor attendance at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, the team was on the move again after just one season, this time to Long Beach, California, where it retained the "Ice Dogs" name and played at the Long Beach Sports Arena. Manchester Storm (1995–2002)
The Manchester Storm were an ice hockey team from Manchester, England. The team formed in 1995, playing their home games at the then newly built NYNEX Arena, but they folded during the 2002–03 season. Early success Storm won the British Hockey League Division One in their first season, watched by an average crowd of 6,342. Success in the end of season promotion/relegation play-offs followed, resulting in Storm being promoted to the Premier Division of the British Hockey League. However, Britain's league structure was changed in 1996, with the formation of the Ice Hockey Superleague, of which the Manchester team were a founder member.
