Corey Johnson (born 16 November 2000) is an English professional rugby league footballer who plays as a for Leeds Rhinos in the Betfred Super League. Playing career Leeds Rhinos In 2019, he made professional debut on loan at Featherstone Rovers in the Betfred Championship and made his Super League début in Leeds' final home game of the 2019 season. Despite being less than two years into a four-year contract to stay at Leeds until 2022, Johnson was released from his contract in March 2020 announcing his retirement from the game to focus on life away from rugby league. York RLFC (loan) On 8 July 2021, it was reported that he had come out of retirement, re-signed for Leeds and then signed for York RLFC in the RFL Championship on loan. Leeds Rhinos
The Leeds Rhinos are a professional rugby league club in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The club was formed in 1870 as Leeds St John's and play in the Super League, the top tier of English rugby league. They have played home matches at Headingley Stadium since 1890. In 1895, Leeds was one of twenty-two rugby clubs that broke away from the Rugby Football Union and formed what was originally the Northern Union, but is now the Rugby Football League. The Championship, known as the Betfred Championship for sponsorship reasons, is a professional rugby league competition. It is the second-tier competition organised by the Rugby Football League, the governing body for the sport in England, and consists of 14 teams, with promotion to the Super League and relegation to the third-tier competition, League One. Featherstone Rovers are a professional rugby league club in Featherstone, West Yorkshire, England, who play in the Championship. Featherstone is a former coal mining town with a population of around 16,000 and Rovers are one of the last "small town teams" which were common in rugby league in the early 20th century. The club has produced many junior players who have gone on to play for Super League clubs. Their local rivals are Castleford and Wakefield Trinity, and in the Championship, Halifax. Super League XXIV, known as the Betfred Super League XXIV for sponsorship reasons, was the 2019 iteration of and the 24th season of the Super League and 125th season of rugby league in Great Britain. Twelve teams competed over 29 rounds, including the Magic Weekend, which took place at Anfield. After the regular rounds, the top five highest teams entered the Super League play-offs, for a place in the Super League Grand Final.
