''Cordylostigma'' is a genus in the Rubiaceae. The name was coined in 2010 to contain 9 species formerly belonging to the related genus ''Kohautia''. The nine species are native to tropical and southern Africa from Guinea to Somalia to South Africa, as well as Madagascar, Comoros, and Réunion. Carl Ludwig Willdenow (22 August 1765 – 10 July 1812) was a German botanist, pharmacist, and plant taxonomist. He is considered one of the founders of phytogeography, the study of the geographic distribution of plants. Willdenow was also a mentor of Alexander von Humboldt, one of the earliest and best known phytogeographers. He also influenced Christian Konrad Sprengel, who pioneered the study of plant pollination and floral biology. Biography Willdenow was born in Berlin and studied medicine and botany at the University of Halle. After studying pharmaceutics at Wieglieb College, Langensalza and in medicine at Halle, he returned to Berlin to work at his father's pharmacy located in the Unter den Linden. Spencer Le Marchant Moore (1 November 1850 – 14 March 1931) was an English botanist. Biography Moore was born in Hampstead. He worked at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, from about 1870 to 1879, wrote a number of botanical papers, and then worked in an unofficial capacity at the Natural History Museum from 1896 until his death. He was involved in an expedition to remote parts of Western Australia from December 1894 to October 1895, travelling from Goldfields–Esperance to places like Siberia Soak—near Waverley—and Goongarrie.
