Corbières is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) for wine in the Languedoc-Roussillon, France, and it is this region's largest AOC, responsible for 46 per cent of the region's AOC wine production in 2005. Cucugnan (; oc, Cucunhan) is a Communes of France, commune in the Aude Departments of France, department in southern France, approximately north-west of Perpignan. The small village lies in a valley in the Corbières Massif, overlooked by the ruined Château de Quéribus, which stands at the top of a hill to the south of Cucugnan. History The first documented mention of a settlement called ''Cucuniano'' is a record of a gift of land from Roger I of Carcassonne, Roger I, Count of Carcassonne to the Abbey of Lagrasse in the year 951. In the 13th century, during the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars, the Lord of Cucugnan participated in the Cathar resistance before he was forced to submit to Louis IX of France, King Louis IX. In 1495, Cucugnan was destroyed by the Spanish invaders and a new village grew up around the ruined medieval village. Lagrasse (; oc, La Grassa) is a commune in the Aude department in the Occitanie region of Southern France. In 2016, it had a population of 560. Lagrasse is part of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France ("The most beautiful villages of France") association. Geography Lagrasse is about southeast of Carcassonne. It lies in the valley of the River Orbieu, at the foot of the Pyrenees. History Lagrasse dates from the time the abbey was built. Permission for the construction was given by Charlemagne in 783. Arquettes-en-Val (; oc, Arquetas) is a commune in the Aude department in the Occitanie region of southern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Arquettois'' or ''Arquettoises'' The commune is one of the rare ones in France that are free of debt. Geography Arquettes-sur-Val is located some 16 km south-east of Carcassonne and 4 km south-west of Montlaur. Access to the commune is by the D42 road from Palaja in the north-west passing through the commune and the village and continuing south to Serviès-en-Val. The D114 goes north-east from Serviès-en-Val to form part of the eastern border of the commune before joining the D3. The D714 road connects the D3 east of the commune to the village.
