Charles Marquis Warren (December 16, 1912 – August 11, 1990) was an American motion picture and television writer, producer, and director who specialized in Westerns. Among his notable career achievements were his involvement in creating the television series ''Rawhide'' and his work in adapting the radio series ''Gunsmoke'' for television. Biography Early life Warren was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and was the son of a real estate broker and the godson of famous American writer and fellow Baltimorean F. Scott Fitzgerald. He was educated at The Baltimore City College, a longtime prominent secondary school in the region plus the third oldest public high school in America (founded 1839).
