Coppa Della Toscana
Coppa della Toscana (meaning Tuscany Cup in Italian) was a sports car racing, sports car race held on the roads of Tuscany, through Livorno and Florence, between 1949 and 1954. History For the 1949 season of the Mille Miglia race, it was decided that this years edition would bypass the city of Florence. As a direct consequence of this decision, the Automobile Club of Florence decided to organize an alternative race that would run in Tuscany. The new event would enable sports cars and touring cars to compete through the streets of the Tuscan cities and on the roads around the region. The main organizer of this race was the director of the Florence Automobile Club, Amos Pampaloni who also negotiated with a neighboring automobile clubs to receive their support. In the end the event crossed ten Tuscan provinces: Arezzo, Florence, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa, Tuscany, Massa, Pisa, Pistoia, Siena and Viterbo. The 212 Exports won Tour de France automobile, Giro di Sicilia, Coppa della Toscana, 10 Hours of Messina and other motor races throughout its career. It was meant to be a sports car available for oversea markets. Development The Ferrari 212 Export was an evolution over the preceding Ferrari 195 S, 195 S in terms of engine capacity and new chassis. The 212 Export was a race model produced alongside a road-going version, the Ferrari 212 Inter, 212 Inter. The "Export" name first appeared on the 166 Export Vignale Spyder s/n 0072E, from the Ferrari 166 MM, 166 MM range, and was adopted for the racing 212-series instead of the usual "Sport" moniker. Giannino Marzotto
Count Giannino Marzotto (13 April 1928 in Valdagno, Italy – 14 July 2012) was an Italian racing driver and entrepreneur. Marzotto served as President of the Mille Miglia Club and won the Mille Miglia race in 1950 and 1953. Career He was one of four sons of Count Gaetano Marzotto. Soon after his 20th birthday, he entered his father's Lancia Aprilia in the Giro di Sicilia and finished second in class (16th overall). Marzotto met Enzo Ferrari in 1948 with the task to build a 2L Grand Touring Coupe, which is believed to be the fourth customer car even built by Ferrari, a Ferrari 166 Inter. He started racing with an Aprilia for an Italian National Championship Event in 1948. Development The Ferrari 195 S was a further development of the ''Colombo'' V12 engine from the 166 MM race car up to a displacement of 2.3-litres. There was a significant increase in power and its delivery. Only four examples were converted from 166 MM range. Two were closed berlinettas s/n 0026M and 0060M, and two open barchettas s/n 0022M and 0038M, all bodied by Carrozzeria Touring. The Lancia Aprilia (1937–1949) is a family car manufactured by Lancia, one of the first designed using a wind tunnel in collaboration with Battista Farina and Politecnico di Torino, achieving a record low drag coefficient of 0.47. Teodoro "Dorino" Serafini (22 July 1909 – 5 July 2000) was a motorcycle road racer and racing driver from Italy. A native of Pesaro (Marche), he started his bike racing career in 1928, on a Benelli 175cc. He won the 1939 500cc European Championship on a Gilera, with victories in the German, Swedish and Ulster Grand Prix. He switched to single seater car racing in 1947, starting in a Cisitalia D46. He participated in one Formula One World Championship Grand Prix on 3 September 1950, when he finished second and scored 3 championship points, his points being halved as he shared the drive with Alberto Ascari. Automobili Stanguellini was an Italian sport cars manufacturer based in Modena. The company was founded by Vittorio Stanguellini and was mostly active between 1946 and 1960. They produced racing cars until 1981, when Vittorio Stanguellini died.
