Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (, ) is an international airport serving Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, as well as the wider Øresund Region, including Zealand and the southern Sweden, Swedish province of Scania. In 2023 it was the largest airport in the List of the largest airports in the Nordic countries, Nordic countries. As the Nordic countries' largest airport, it served close to 30 million passengers in 2024. It is one of the oldest international airports in Europe, the fourth-busiest in United Nations geoscheme for Europe, Northern Europe, and the busiest for international travel in Scandinavia. Københavns Lufthavne is a public limited company that operates two airports in Copenhagen, Denmark: Copenhagen Airport and Roskilde Airport. In addition, the company previously held a 49% stake in Newcastle International Airport and 10% of Aeropuertos del Sureste that operated nine airports in Mexico. The largest owners of Københavns Lufthavne are Macquarie Infrastructure Company (52.4%) and the Government of Denmark (39.2%). Roskilde Airport
Copenhagen Airport, Roskilde — simply known as Roskilde Airport — is located southeast of Roskilde near the town Tune. History It was opened in 1973 as the first of three planned relief airports around Copenhagen. These plans were shelved shortly after, and the two other relief airports never made it past the planning stage. A hardstand (also hard standing and hardstanding in British English) is a paved or hard-surfaced area on which vehicles, such as cars or aircraft, may be parked. The term may also be used informally to refer to an area of compacted hard surface such as Macadam#Water-bound macadam, macadam. A jet bridge is an enclosed connector which most commonly extends from an airport terminal gate to an airplane, and in some instances from a port to a boat or ship, allowing passengers to board and disembark without heading outside and being exposed to harsh weather. An airline hub or hub airport is an airport used by one or more airlines to concentrate passenger traffic and flight operations. Hubs serve as transfer (or stop-over) points to help get passengers to their final destination. It is part of the spoke–hub distribution paradigm, hub-and-spoke system. An airline may operate flights from several non-hub (spoke) cities to the hub airport, and passengers traveling between spoke cities connect through the hub. Dragør Kommune () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Hovedstaden on the southern coast of the island of Amager just east of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. Tårnby Municipality (, ) is a '' kommune'' bordering Copenhagen Municipality on the island of Amager just east of Zealand in eastern Denmark. The Øresund or Öresund Bridge is a combined List of road–rail bridges, railway and motorway cable-stayed bridge across the Øresund strait between Denmark and Sweden. Amager ( ), located in the Øresund, is Denmark's most densely populated island, with more than 216,000 inhabitants (January 2022). The protected natural area of ''Naturpark Amager'' (including Kalvebod Fælled) makes up more than one-third of the island's total area of 96 km2.
