Cooliekkaran
''Cooliekkaran'' () is a 1987 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Rajasekhar and produced by S. Thanu. The film stars Vijayakanth and Rupini, in her Tamil cinema debut. It is a remake of the Hindi film ''Kaalia'' (1981). The film was released on 4 June 1987. Through this film Vijayakanth got the title "Puratchi Kalaignar" (), bestowed upon him by Thanu. Plot Raja lives with his elder brother Velu, sister-in-law Lakshmi, and their little daughter. He spends his time idle and is scolded by Velu. Raja decides to become a coolie and transport articles. Unfortunately, he is jailed for smuggling. Velu also gets into an accident at work at the mill and loses his arms and job, while also needing money for treatment. Raja is released and begs Velu's boss Chakravarthy, but he refuses. Raja breaks into Chakravarthy's safe to get the money, but it is too late as Velu dies. Chakravarthy throws Raja in jail. Rajasekhar (director)
Subramanian (??? – 24 April 1991), known professionally as Rajasekhar () was an Indian film director and screenwriter who was active mainly in Tamil cinema during the 1980s. He also directed films in Telugu language, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Early life and career Rajasekhar was born as Subramanian in Nattarasankottai in the then Ramanathapuram district and was a Bachelor of Science graduate. Prior to his entry in films, he was working in government department and few people encouraged him to write scripts as they felt he had a creator in him thus he wrote story for the 1977 release ''Naam Pirandha Mann''. It was Rajinikanth who gave Subramanian the name Rajasekhar. He worked as assistant director to M. A. Kaja and Rama Narayanan. Rupini
Komal Mahuvakar, better known by her stage name Rupini, is an Indian former actress who has appeared in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu language films during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Early life Mahuvakar was born in Mumbai into a well educated family. Her father was a lawyer and her mother was a dietitian. She started to learn dancing at the age of four from Lachhu Maharaj in Mumbai. She learnt all the forms of classical dances including Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi and Kathak in a short span. Nageshwaran Rao (born Cheyur Krishnarao Nageshwaran; (27 September 1933 – 31 January 2009) was an Indian actor and comedian mostly remembered for his comic roles in Tamil films during the 1960s. Nagesh was born in Dharapuram. He acted in over 1,000 Cinema of India, films from 1958 to 2008, performing in a variety of roles as comedian, lead roles, supporting actor and antagonist. Pandiyan better known as Mann Vasanai Pandiyan (5 January 1960 – 10 January 2008) was an Indian actor and politician who acted in 112 films in lead roles from 1983 to 1991 and supporting roles from 1992 to 2003. Career Pandiyan was selling bangles in his family owned jewellery shop in Madurai, India when he was spotted by director Bharathiraja who offered him the lead role in the film '' Mann Vasanai'' (1983) which became a box-office hit. ''Kaalia'' is a 1981 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film, written and directed by Tinnu Anand, and produced by Iqbal Singh. Subha is the name used by the writing partnership of D. Suresh and A. N. Balakrishnan, who write stories, detective novels and screenplays in Tamil. Work The duo began co-authoring stories when they were in college together, and have been publishing their work since 1979. They have published more than 450 short novels and more than 400 short stories. Most of their detective novels feature the characters Narendran and Vaijayanthi of Eagle Eye Detective Agency, and their coworker John Sundar.
