Coolah is a town in the central western part of New South Wales, Australia in Warrumbungle Shire. At the 2016 census, Coolah had a population of 1,290. Coolah Tops National Park
Coolah Tops is a national park located in New South Wales, Australia, northwest of Sydney, established on 5 July 1996. It is managed by the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service. Its World Conservation Union category is II. It is situated east of Coolah in the Liverpool Range, on the Coolah Creek Road. The park features waterfalls that plunge from the plateau. Giant grass trees and open forest with stands of snow gums shelter gliders, wallabies, eagles and owls. It is home to one of the largest populations of greater gliders in Australia. Camping and walking are the main recreational activities performed here. Views from the tops are possible over the Liverpool Plains. The sources of the Talbragar River and the Coolaburragundy River lie in the park. Old Police Station And Courthouse, Coolah
The Old Police Station and Courthouse is a heritage-listed former police station and courthouse located at 74 Binnia Street, Coolah, in the Warrumbungle Shire, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by the Colonial Architect of New South Wales, James Barnet, and built from 1878 to 1880 by Henry S. Winter. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. Coolaburragundy River
Coolaburragundy River, a perennial stream that is part of the Talbragar catchment within the Murray–Darling basin, is located in the Orana district of New South Wales, Australia. The river rises on the south-western slopes of the Liverpool Range, at the junction of the Great Dividing Range, about north-east of the town of Coolah at Pandoras Pass. Runoff from Coolah Tops National Park also flows into the river, as it flows generally south westerly and is joined by three minor tributaries, before reaching its mouth at the confluence with the Talbragar River near Leadville; dropping over its course of . There is sufficient water for limited irrigated cropping on the fertile alluvial soils along the valley. Although the river itself is usually dry, an aquifer lies below the Coolaburragundy valley between Coolah and Dunedoo. Richard Butler (diplomat)
Richard William Butler, (born 13 May 1942) is a retired Australian public servant, United Nations weapons inspector, and a former Governor of Tasmania. Early life and career Butler was born in Coolah in rural New South Wales. He grew up in Sydney and was educated at Randwick Boys High School, the University of Sydney and the Australian National University, Canberra. He married Susan Ryan in 1963 and they had a son and a daughter; they divorced in 1972. Butler joined the Australian Department of External Affairs in 1965, and served in a number of postings until 1975, when he resigned to become Principal Private Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition, Gough Whitlam, who had recently been dismissed as prime minister. Border Police Of New South Wales
The Border Police of New South Wales was a frontier policing body introduced by the colonial government of New South Wales with the passing of the ''Crown Lands Unauthorised Occupation Act 1839''. The Colony of New South Wales was expanding rapidly in the late 1830s, and the colonial government was concerned with the illegal occupation of lands and the rights of the Aboriginal people. The colonial government of New South Wales in 1839 legislated for a new policing body that would control these issues. This force was called the Border Police. The Border Police was organised into a number of sections and these were deployed to the various districts along the frontier. Each section was under the authority of the Commissioner of Crown Lands for that particular district and each commissioner had about 10 troopers. Mid West Cup
The Mid West Community Cup is a rugby league competition in the Central West area of New South Wales. The premiers are awarded the Blayney Citizens' Cup, the oldest continuously awarded trophy in Country Rugby League, with Neville the first recipients in 1913. For all intents and purposes, it is a third division competition in the Group 10/11 area. In its last season under its original model in 2021, the competition encompassed teams from Bathurst, Kandos, Lithgow, Oberon, Orange and Portland. Some of the remaining clubs in the competition merged into the Woodbridge Cup in 2022 after two incomplete seasons due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. However, the competition reformed in late 2022 under a new community cup model similar to Group 17.
