Contemporary Bulgarian Writers is an online literary platform which presents to the English speaking audience profiles of living Bulgarian authors of fiction and short stories. About the Idea Contemporary Bulgarian Writers aims at facilitating the access of the English speaking audience to the contemporary Bulgarian literature. Created in public interest, its mission is to be a crossing-point of the contemporary Bulgarian literature and the English speaking world. Georgi Gospodinov
Georgi Gospodinov ( bg, Георги Господинов; born January 7, 1968) is a Bulgarian writer, poet and playwright. One of the most translated Bulgarian authors after 1989, he has four poetry books awarded with national literary prizes. First of them, ''Lapidarium'' (1992), won the National Debut Prize. Volumes of his selected poetry came out in German, Portuguese, Czech and Macedonian. Zachary Karabashliev ( bg, Захари Карабашлиев) (born 14 April 1968, Varna, Bulgaria) is a contemporary Bulgarian writer and a playwright. Life He graduated in Bulgarian philology from the Shumen University, Bulgaria. In 1997, he moved to the USA with his family in San Diego, California, U.S. Later the couple divorced. Kalin Terziyski ( bg, Калин Терзийски) is a contemporary Bulgarian writer. Educated as a psychiatrist, out of necessity for additional loan due to the low wages for young doctors in his home Bulgaria, he started writing in for newspapers and magazines. At the beginning of 2000, he dismissed his medical career and devoted his creative time to writing. He was one of the winners of the European Union Prize for Literature 2011. Georgi Tenev
Georgi Tenev (born 9 October 1969, in Sofia, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian novelist, short story writer, playwright and film/TV screenwriter. Major topics in Tenev's works are the cultural and ideological void in the post-totalitarian societies and the consequent emerging of counter-cultures; the fall of utopias and the social amnesias. Recurring narratives in his novels and plays are also quasi-religion and disbelief, barbarism and revolution, the Holocaust, problem of evil, theodicy.
