Benjamin Contee
Benjamin Contee (1755 – November 30, 1815) was an American Episcopal priest and statesman from Maryland. He was an officer in the American Revolutionary War, a delegate to the Confederation Congress, and member of the first United States House of Representatives. Early life Contee was the son of Col. Thomas Contee (1729–1811) and Sarah Fendall (1732–1793). He was born at "Brookefield", near Nottingham, Prince George's County, Maryland, the home of his father, and original home of his ancestor, Maj. Thomas Brooke, Sr., Esq. (1632–1676). Military and political career At beginning of the Revolutionary War, Contee entered the Continental Army, rising to the rank of captain of the 3rd Maryland Regiment, which proved to be one of the army's elite units until its near annihilation at the Battle of Camden. After the war he was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates, where he served from 1785 to 1787. He served as a delegate to the Confederation Congress from 1787 ...

Cheryl Contee is an American entrepreneur, CEO, blogger, and writer. She is co-founder and CEO of a digital marketing agency, Do Big Things. Before founding Do Big Things, Contee co-founded Fission Strategy and Attentive.ly. In 2019, Contee released her book, “Mechanical Bull", which details her history as a non-traditional startup founder. She received her B.A. from Yale University and has an International Executive M.B.A. from Georgetown University. Thomas Contee (–1811) of "Brookefield", near Nottingham, Prince George's County, Maryland, was an American patriot who held the rank of colonel, militia man, politician, planter. Early life Thomas Contee was born at "Brookefield" in Prince George's County, Maryland around 1729 to Alexander Contee (1693–1740) and Jane Brooke (1702–1779). Family Contee married Sarah Fendall (1732–1793) in 1751 in Charles County, Maryland. They resided at "Brookefield", which is now called "The Valley", near Nottingham, Prince George's Co., Maryland. Sarah (Fendall) Contee (1732–1793), was the daughter of Benjamin Fendall I, Esq. (1708–1764) and first wife, Eleanor Lee (1710–1759). Sarah was born February 7, 1732, at " Potomoe", Charles County., Maryland. Sarah was described as a very beautiful woman with a wealth of golden hair; Contee left a portrait which reveals a mild, handsome face, powdered hair, ruffled shirt and stock.
