Constitutional Reform Committee
The Constitutional Reform Committee is a committee of the Government of Jamaica tasked with revising and reforming Jamaica's constitutional arrangements, including the abolition of the monarchy. Mandate Its mandate is four-fold: # To assess the implementation of the recommendations of the Joint Select Committee on Constitutional and Electoral Reform (JSCCER), whose report was approved by Parliament in 1995. # To evaluate the recommendations of the JSCCER on establishing the Office of President. # To assist in coordinating the required bipartisan collaboration and national consultation during the various phases of reform work. # To educate the electorate on their role in the referendum process. Proposed reforms The committee was approved by the Cabinet of Jamaica on 16 November 2022 as a consultative, collaborative committee. Politics Of Jamaica
Politics in Jamaica takes place in the framework of a representative parliamentary democratic constitutional monarchy. The 1962 Constitution of Jamaica established a parliamentary system whose political and legal traditions closely follow those of the United Kingdom. As the head of state, King Charles III - on the advice of the Prime Minister of Jamaica - appoints a governor-general as his representative in Jamaica. The governor-general has a largely ceremonial role, with their parliamentary function consisting simply of granting royal assent to bills which have passed Parliament. Jamaica constitutes an independent Commonwealth realm. The Constitution vests executive power in the Cabinet, led by the Prime Minister. Executive power is exercised by the government. Spragga Benz
Carlton Errington Grant (born 30 May 1969), better known as Spragga Benz, is a Jamaican dancehall deejay. Career He began his career around 1991. He was once known to his friends as "Spaghetti" (tall and slim), but this was later shortened to Spragga. The Benz in his name comes from the sound system for which he used to work for, L.A. Benz, and it is through this that he found his way into the music industry at a dubplate recording session with Buju Banton. The famed elder DJ was slated to do four tracks for L.A. Benz but only voiced two and suggested that Spragga do the other two. Since he was new to recording, he freestyled a couple of lines of what would then become, "Love Mi Gun", a popular tune. Mary Seacole
Mary Jane Seacole (;Anionwu, E. N. (2012), "Mary Seacole: nursing care in many lands". ''British Journal of Healthcare Assistants'' 6(5), pp. 244–248. 23 November 1805 – 14 May 1881) was a British Nursing, nurse and Women in business, businesswoman. She was famous for her nursing work during the Crimean War and for publishing the first autobiography written by a black woman in Britain. Seacole was born in Kingston, Jamaica, to a Creole mother who ran a boarding house and had herbalist skills as a "doctress". In 1990, Seacole was (posthumously) awarded the Jamaican Order of Merit (Jamaica), Order of Merit. Anthony Hylton
George Anthony Hylton (born 27 April 1957) is a Jamaican politician who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2006 to 2007. Career Hylton was elected member of parliament with the People's National Party for Saint Andrew Western in 1993. He has held other portfolios including Minister of Foreign Trade as well as Mining and Energy. He oversees one of the most run-down constituencies in the country and is often criticized for the lack of work in what is dubbed as a PNP stronghold.
