Constituency (France)
France is divided into 577 constituencies (''circonscriptions'') for the election of Member of Parliament (France), deputies to the lower legislative House, the National Assembly (France), National Assembly (539 in Metropolitan France, 27 in the overseas departments and territories of France, overseas departments and territories, and 11 for constituencies for French residents overseas, French residents overseas). Deputies are elected in a two round system to a term fixed to a maximum of five years. In 2010, a 2010 Redistricting of French Legislative Constituencies, new set of constituency boundaries was adopted, with the dual purpose of ensuring a more equal number of voters per constituency, and of providing seats in the National Assembly to representatives of French citizens resident outside France. 33 constituencies were abolished, and 33 new ones created. The 5th constituency of the Ain is a French legislative constituency in the Ain ''département''. It was created by ordinance n°2009-935 of 29 July 2009, ratified by the French Parliament on 21 January 2010. It consists of the cantons of Ambérieu-en-Bugey, Brénod, Champagne-in-Valromey, Hauteville-Lompnes, Izernore, Lhuis, Nantua, North Oyonnax, Oyonnax South, Poncin, Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey, Virieu-le-Grand. Jérôme Buisson
Jérôme Buisson (born 15 January 1973) is a French politician and educator from the National Rally (RN) who has been the member of the National Assembly for the 4th constituency of Ain since 2022. Buisson was born in 1973. He holds a degree from the University of Bologna in Italy followed by a teaching certificate at the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3. From 2000 to 2015 he worked as a languages teacher at a school in Bourg-en-Bresse. Buisson serves as a municipal councillor in Bourg-en-Bresse and as a community councillor for the Communauté d'agglomération du Bassin de Bourg-en-Bresse. He is the first National Rally member to serve as a Member of Parliament for an Ain constituency. The Union for French Democracy ( ; UDF) was a centre-right political party in France. The UDF was founded in 1978 as an electoral alliance to support President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing in order to counterbalance the Gaullist preponderance over the French centre-right. The UDF took its name from Giscard's 1976 book, ''Démocratie française''. The founding parties of the UDF were Giscard's Republican Party (PR), the Centre of Social Democrats (CDS), the Radical Party (Rad), the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Perspectives and Realities Clubs (CPR). Olga Givernet
Olga Givernet (born 17 October 1981) is a French politician of Renaissance (RE) who has been serving as a member of the French National Assembly since the 2017 elections, representing the department of Ain. From September to December 2024, Givernet briefly served as Delegated Minister for Energy in the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier. Education and early career Givernet completed her secondary studies in Yvelines. At age 23, she obtained an engineer's degree in electronics and computer science for embedded systems and a master's degree. In 2015, Givernet decided with her husband to settle in Auckland where she found a job as an avionics engineer, then project manager at the design office of Air New Zealand.
