Constanze Backes is a classically trained German soprano in opera and concert. She has toured throughout Europe and performed in many classical genres but over the last few years has focused primarily on Early music. In addition she teaches children music technique and has translated musical works. Career Constanze Backes was born in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. She began her music studies at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen. Later, she studied privately with Jessica Cash in London and Hea-Soon Park. In 1993, performing with John Eliot Gardiner, Backes appeared as Barbarina in Mozart's ''Le nozze di Figaro'' at the Théâtre du Châtelet of Paris, at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and recorded it for Deutsche Grammophon Archiv. She recorded with Gardiner also for Deutsche Grammophon Valetto in Monteverdi's ''L'incoronazione di Poppea'' and Papagena in Mozart's '' Zauberflöte''. Constanze Blum (born 29 October 1972) is a German cross-country skier who competed from 1993 to 2003. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, she earned her best career finish of fifth in the 4 x 5 km relay and her best individual finish of 21st in the 15 km event. Constanze Therese Adelaide Geiger, Freifrau von Ruttenstein (16 October 1835 – 24 August 1890) was an Austrian pianist, theatrical actress, composer and singer. Biography Geiger was the daughter of the composer and the court hat-maker/modist Theresia Geiger (née Ržiha, 1804–1865). Her parents nurtured her musical talents, and her father was her first piano teacher. She continued piano lessons with Johann Wenzel Tomaschek as well as Simon Sechter. Maria Constanze Cäcilia Josepha Johanna Aloysia Mozart (née Weber; 5 January 1762 – 6 March 1842) was a German soprano, later a businesswoman. Constanze Moser-Scandolo (born 4 July 1965) is a former World Champion speed skater who competed for East Germany. Short biography Born as Constanze Scandolo in Weimar, East Germany, she started skating at the ''SC Turbine Erfurt'' skating club in Erfurt where she trained in the same group as Gunda Niemann and Heike Schalling. In 1988, she was at the Winter Olympics in Calgary, slated to compete in the 1,500 m. However, an injury forced her to withdraw just minutes before the start of her race. She had her best year in 1989 when she became World Allround Champion, won silver at the European Allround Championships, and also won the World Cup on the 1,500 m, as well as ending third on the 1,000 m and the 3,000/5,000 m.
