Constant Ockers
Constant ("Stan") Ockers (3 February 1920 – 1 October 1956) was a Belgium, Belgian professional racing cycle sport, cyclist. He was runner-up in the Tour de France in 1950 and 1952, and the best cycling sprinter, sprinter in that Grand Tour in 1955 and 1956. In 1955 he won the Classic cycle races, Classic "Ardennes double" by winning La Flèche Wallonne and the Liège–Bastogne–Liège in the same year. At this time, the races were run on successive days as "Weekend ardennais, Le Weekend Ardennais". He also won the World Cycling Championship that year. Ockers did not have the most congenial riding style - he was known as a crafty cyclist who often took advantage of other people's work - but he more than made up for this through his contact with the public. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on Road surface, paved roads. Road racing is the most popular professional form of bicycle racing, in terms of numbers of competitors, events and spectators. Challenge Desgrange-Colombo
The Challenge Desgrange-Colombo was a season-long road bicycle racing competition between 1948 and 1958. There were two classifications, one for individual cyclists and another for nations. History The Challenge Desgrange-Colombo competition was created in 1948 to get the cyclists from two of the most dominant countries of the sport, France and Italy, to participate in each other's races. Named after long-time Tour de France director Henri Desgrange and Giro d'Italia director , the competition was organised by the newspapers ''L'Équipe'', ''La Gazzetta dello Sport'', ''Het Nieuwsblad-Sportwereld'' and ''Les Sports''. The Belgian Track Cycling Championships are a series of competitions to determine who will become Belgian champion in the different parts of track cycling. Nowadays, the championships are always held at the Flemish Cycling Center Eddy Merckx, one of the two official 250m Olympic tracks in Belgium. Scheldeprijs
The Scheldeprijs is a road bicycle racing, cycling race in Flanders and the Netherlands which starts in Terneuzen, crosses the Scheldt River, and finishes in Schoten. Until 2018 it was held entirely in Belgium. The event, ranked as a UCI race classifications, 1.Pro race on the UCI ProSeries, features mostly sprinters on its roll of honour, as it is held on all-flat roads over roughly 200 kilometres. La Flèche Wallonne (, French for "The Walloon Arrow") is a men's professional cycle road race held in April each year in Wallonia, Belgium. It is part of the UCI World Tour. The first of two Belgian Ardennes classics, La Flèche Wallonne is today normally held mid-week between the Amstel Gold Race and Liège–Bastogne–Liège. At one time, La Flèche Wallonne and Liège–Bastogne–Liège were run on successive days as "Le Weekend Ardennais" (both races are organised by Amaury Sport Organisation).
