Constable Koothuru
''Constable Koothuru'' () is a 1963 Telugu-language film directed by Tapi Chanakya. It is a remake of the 1962 Tamil film '' Policekaran Magal'', itself based on a play with the same name. The film stars Jaggayya, Krishna Kumari, రాజశ్రీ Gummadi and Kanta Rao. This was J. Jayalalithaa's first appearance as a child star in Telugu cinema. Plot Dharmayya is an honest police constable who has two children: Gopi and Janaki. Gopi's friend Raghu is the spoilt son of a wealthy man named Venkatramayya. One day, Dharmayya raids a bar and catches Raghu gambling and arrests him, this leaves a bad opinion of Raghu on Dharmayya. In an attempt to change Raghu's lifestyle, Venkatramayya decides to marry off his niece Mallika to Raghu. But before the marriage, Raghu meets Janaki and they fall in love with each other. Ghantasala Venkateswararao (4 December 1922 – 11 February 1974), known mononymously by his surname as Ghantasala, was an Indian playback singer and film composer known for his works predominantly in Telugu and Kannada cinema and also in Tamil, Malayalam, Tulu and Hindi language films. He is considered as one of the greatest singers of Telugu cinema. In 1970, he received the Padma Shri award, India's fourth highest civilian award for his contribution to Indian cinema. Pithapuram Nageswara Rao (5 May 1930 – 5 March 1996) was an Indian playback singer who worked in the early period of Telugu cinema. He sang thousands of songs, mostly of a comedic nature, in the 1950s and 1960s along with Madhavapeddi Satyam and others. He also sang for a couple of movies in Kannada. Film News Anandan (born Mani) was an Indian film historian and photographer based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was popularly known as the "walking encyclopedia" of Tamil cinema. Early life Anandan was born as Mani. His father P. K. Gnanasagaram was a government servant. When he was being admitted in school he told his principal his name was Anandakrishnan, which later became his legal name, and was further shortened to Anandan.
