Conservation and Environmental Research Areas (CERA) of University of Maryland, Baltimore County is a nature preserve on the grounds of the UMBC campus in Baltimore, Maryland. The wooded area is located on the southern end of the campus and is bordered by bwtech@UMBC Research and Technology Park to the north, UMBC Boulevard to the west, Selford and Shelbourne Roads to the south, and athletic fields to the east. CERA is used for education purposes for programs at UMBC such as the departments of Geography and Environmental Systems. Bwtech@UMBC Research and Technology Park is the university research park for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in Baltimore, Maryland. The research park has two campuses; bwtech@UMBC North, located just south of the main campus and adjacent to the campus gateway, and bwtech@UMBC South, located in UMBC's South Campus complex off of Rolling Road. Freeman Alphonso Hrabowski III (born August 13, 1950) is an American educator, advocate, and mathematician. In May 1992, he began his term as president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), one of the twelve public universities composing the University System of Maryland. Hrabowski has been credited with transforming UMBC into an institution noted for research and innovation. Under his leadership, UMBC was ranked the #1 Up and Coming University in the U.S. for six consecutive years (2009-2014) by the ''U.S. News & World Report'' magazine.
