These are the characters of the American television legal drama '' Matlock''. Main Ben Matlock Benjamin Leighton "Ben" Matlock is a renowned, folksy yet cantankerous defense attorney who charges a fee of $100,000 to take a case. He is known for visiting crime scenes to discover overlooked clues, as well as his down-home style of coming up with viable, alternative theories of the crime in question (usually murder) while sitting in his office playing the banjo or polishing his shoes. ''Matlock'' is an American Mystery fiction, mystery legal drama television series created by Dean Hargrove and starring Andy Griffith in the title role of criminal defense attorney Ben Matlock. Warren Frost
Warren Frost (June 5, 1925 – February 17, 2017) was an American actor. His work was mainly in theater, but he worked in films and television sporadically from 1958. He is known for television roles on '' Matlock'' and ''Seinfeld'', and particularly as Doctor Hayward on ''Twin Peaks'', a series co-created by his son Mark Frost. Jesse Donald Knotts (July 21, 1924February 24, 2006) was an American actor and comedian.
