Conor Mullen Oberst (born February 15, 1980) is an American singer-songwriter best known for his work in Bright Eyes (band), Bright Eyes. He has also played in several other bands, including Desaparecidos (band), Desaparecidos, the Faint (previously named Norman Bailer), Commander Venus, Park Ave. (band), Park Ave., Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Monsters of Folk, and Better Oblivion Community Center. Oberst was named the Best Songwriter of 2008 by ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. Monsters of Folk was an American supergroup, consisting of Jim James from My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis from Bright Eyes, Will Johnson from Centro-matic and M. Ward, solo artist and half of She & Him. The band was formed in 2004 when the members were on tour with their respective bands and solo projects. Sorry About Dresden was an indie rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The band formed in 1997 and was signed to Saddle Creek Records. Matthew Ryan Oberst Jr. (January 3, 1974 – November 27, 2016) was an American musician who was front man of the indie rock band Sorry About Dresden. Background He was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of Nancy and Matthew Ryan Oberst. His youngest brother is singer-songwriter Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes. He graduated from Creighton Preparatory School and Creighton University.
