Conor Gilsenan
Conor Gilsenan (born 10 September 1992) is an Irish former rugby union player. His preferred position was flanker. Background Although he played Gaelic football as a youngster, Gilsenan ultimately chose rugby union when, as a teenager, either avenue was open to him. Gilesenan cited his biggest influence in his chosen profession as coming from his family and 'role-model', Irish rugby player; Brian O'Driscoll. However, he was playing Gaelic football for Wandsorth Gaels of London in 2022. Rugby career Three successful years in Leinster's academy meant many International caps for Ireland at various youth levels. After a short loan spell at Connacht, Gilsenan was signed by London Irish in 2014. At the time Irish were competing in the RFU Championship. Highlights in the years that followed included captaining the club in their run to the British & Irish Cup semi-final (2016-2017 season). Mullingar
Mullingar ( ; ) is the county town of County Westmeath in Ireland. It is the third most populous town in the Midland Region, with a population of 20,928 in the 2016 census. The Counties of Meath and Westmeath Act 1543 proclaimed Westmeath a county, separating it from Meath. Mullingar became the administrative centre for County Westmeath. RFU Championship
The RFU Championship is an English rugby union competition comprising twelve clubs. It is the second level of men’s English rugby and is played by both professional and semi-professional players. The competition has existed since 1987, when English clubs were first organised into leagues. Organisation and format The Championship is governed by the Rugby Football Union (RFU). The British and Irish Cup was an annual rugby union competition for second tier, semi-professional clubs and the reserves or developing teams from professional clubs from Great Britain and Ireland. It took place for the first time in the 2009–10 season, and ran for 9 seasons. After clubs from the English Championship decided to withdraw from the 2018-19 season, the competition was abolished. The Welsh and Irish rugby unions thereafter reinstituted the Celtic Cup competition for its development sides. Leinster A and Munster A were the most successful sides in the competition, winning the trophy twice each. Five English clubs shared the remaining competition wins. Brian Gerard O'Driscoll (born 21 January 1979) is an Irish former professional rugby union player. He played at outside centre for the Irish provincial team Leinster and for Ireland.
