Connacht GAA Air Dome
The University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome was an air-supported Gaelic games venue located at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan, County Mayo, Ireland. It was the largest facility of its type in the world. The Air Dome hosted games at a variety of levels, including senior intercounty matches. Most notably, it was the primary venue for the FBD Insurance League between 2022 and 2024, until the competition was put on hiatus. It was also capable of holding conferences and concerts. Bekan, County Mayo
Bekan or Becan () is a village in County Mayo, Ireland. Because of the almost entirely rural population, it is traditionally a farming community. The village is off the R323 road between Knock and Ballyhaunis. The local school is St. Joseph's National School. The Connacht Gaelic Athletic Association Centre of Excellence was built outside the village in December 2012. Sport Eastern Gaels is the local Gaelic Football club, which represents both Bekan and Brickeens. The Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence is the major sporting facility in the area. The centre is just outside the village. The centre has a 3G pitch, five floodlit Gaelic games pitches, and a gymnasium. Larry McCarthy (sports Administrator)
Larry McCarthy (; born 1954) is a Gaelic games administrator who served as president of the GAA from 2021 to 2024. A native of Bishopstown, in Cork city, he is a member of the Sligo football club in New York and has served with New York GAA in a number of capacities, including secretary, chairman and Central Council delegate. Career He is a university lecturer by profession, working at the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University in New Jersey since 1998. At the GAA Congress in 2018, he was elected as one of the GAA's trustees while he was also part of the Strategic Review Committee during the same year under the stewardship of John Horan. Michael Ring
Michael Ring (born 24 December 1953) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Mayo constituency from 1997 to 2024, and previously from 1994 to 1997 for the Mayo West constituency. He served as Minister for Rural and Community Development from 2017 to 2020 and as a Minister of State from 2011 to 2017. Early and personal life Ring was born in Westport, County Mayo, in 1953.
