Robert Menendez (; born January 1, 1954) is an American former politician and lawyer who represented New Jersey in the United States Senate from 2006 until his resignation in 2024. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, he also represented New Jersey's 13th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1993 to 2006. The Venezuela Democracy Caucus is a bi-partisan congressional group with the stated purpose of "focusing on support for the Venezuelan people, continuing to press for freedom and democracy, and imposing pressure on the regime" in the country. The caucus was created on 13 November 2019 and is co-chaired by Florida Representatives Mario Díaz-Balart (R) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D).
