Congregation (Kerbdog Album)
''Congregation'' is the third full length, and first live, album by Irish alternative rock band Kerbdog. The bulk of the album was recorded in 2012 at three different gigs in England and Ireland. A studio track entitled "Electricity" (a re-working of an old 1997 demo called "Soaking Wet") was recorded at Tower Studios in Evesham in July 2014. A PledgeMusic, Pledge campaign was unveiled on 23 June 2014 to help fund and promote the new release. The campaign had reached 100% of its goal on 6 October 2014. The album was released on 10 October 2014 through Pledge Music and Graphite Records. "Congregation" was released as a CD/DVD package and also as a Download. The DVD includes videos for "Electricity", "Severed", and "Pointless". There is also a live video of "On the Turn" from Sonisphere recorded on 6 July 2014, featuring Dave Draper on bass as a last minute replacement for Colin Fennelly, although the audio itself is the live album version from 2012. Kerbdog
Kerbdog were an alternative metal band from Kilkenny, Ireland, formed in 1991. Following two albums released on Mercury Records, the band split up in 1998. Since 2005, they have reformed for a series of occasional one-off performances. In 2012, a live album entitled ''Congregation (Kerbdog album), Congregation'' was recorded and released in October 2014. History Formation (1991–1992) Originally named Rollercoaster, Kerbdog were formed in 1991 by Cormac Battle (vocals/guitar), Colin Fennelly (bass guitar), and Darragh Butler (drums) while attending St Kieran's College. The band went on to obtain their Irish Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificates, but they devoted their energies to music rather than studies. Their early live shows primarily consisted of cover versions of songs by Sonic Youth, Loop (band), Loop, Spacemen 3, and Fudge Tunnel. Dry Riser (song)
"Dry Riser" is a song by Kerbdog and a single released in 1994, taken from their self titled debut album, recorded at Rockfield Studios, Wales by Jack Endino. The single was released on four different formats, two CDs, and two 7" vinyls. CD1 was released as a limited edition Digipak and one of the 7" singles was released as a limited edition, pressed on clear vinyl as opposed to the usual black. The single climbed to number sixty on the UK Singles Chart. Many of the B-sides over the four discs are covers. Cormac Battle
Cormac Battle (born 11 July 1972) is an Irish musician and radio presenter/producer. He is the vocalist and lead guitarist for the bands Kerbdog, Wilt, Jonny's Boys, and On the turn. He is also the current presenter of RTÉ 2fm's alternative music programme, ''The Battle Axe''. Early life Battle was brought up in Kilkenny, Ireland, having moved from Bromley, UK at an early age. Placebo (band)
Placebo ( ) are a British alternative rock band, formed in London in 1994 by vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal, and in late 1994 Robert Schultzberg joined as drummer. Molko was born in Belgium and Olsdal and Schultzberg in Sweden; Molko and Olsdal grew up in Luxembourg before separately relocating to London and becoming British citizens. ''Kerbdog'' (also sometimes known as 'Totally Switched' for the US release) is Kerbdog's eponymous debut album. The album was recorded in 1993 at Rockfield Studios in Wales and released on 28 March 1994 through Vertigo. Though the band had various indie influences, with bands like Sonic Youth, Fugazi and Big Black, the album ended up having a Metallica influenced proto-grunge sound. The band said that this was simply the result of getting professional equipment, and turning everything up as loud as they could. What also might account for this is the fact that grunge pioneer Jack Endino recorded the album. "If I remember right the whole thing took five weeks. The wave (also Mexican wave outside North America) is a type of metachronal rhythm achieved in a packed stadium or other large seated venue, when successive groups of spectators briefly stand and raise their arms.
