Confederate Last Stand Monument
The Confederate Last Stand Monument is a Confederate memorial in Little Rock, Arkansas, in the United States. The monument was dedicated October 15, 1929, and rededicated on September 14, 2013, after being relocated slightly to its current location due to roadbuilding. Ten Mile House
The Ten Mile House is a historic house at 6915 Stagecoach Road in the Mabelvale neighborhood of Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a -story brick building, with a gabled roof and four end chimneys, each pair joined by a high wall extending above the gable ridge. It was built sometime between 1822 and 1835 along what was then known as the Old Southwest Trail, which extended from Ste. Genevieve, Missouri to Texas. Its design is credited to Gideon Shryock, who designed the state house of the Arkansas Territory. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. On the grounds stands the Confederate Last Stand Monument. The Confederate States of America (CSA), commonly referred to as the Confederate States or the Confederacy was an unrecognized breakaway republic in the Southern United States that existed from February 8, 1861, to May 9, 1865. The Confederacy comprised U.S. states that declared secession and warred against the United States during the American Civil War: South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Battle Of Bayou Fourche
The Battle of Bayou Fourche, also known as the Battle of Little Rock and the Engagement at Bayou Fourche, took place on September 10, 1863, in Pulaski County, Arkansas, and was the final battle of the Little Rock Campaign, also known as the Advance upon Little Rock, which began on August 1 to capture the capital. Union Major-General Frederick Steele's "Arkansas expedition," 15,000 strong, defeated Confederate Major-General Sterling Price's 7,749 District of Arkansas. The Confederate forces took up defensive positions in and around the city of Little Rock. The area of the battle was bisected by the Arkansas River, with the Bayou Fourche forming an additional obstacle to the south-east of Little Rock.
