Compu-toon (comics)
''Compu-toon'' is a comic strip by Charles Boyce. ''Compu-toon'' was launched in 1994 through Tribune Media Services. At its height, the comic strip ran in about 150 newspapers worldwide from 1994 to 1997 in print form. Since April 23, 2001, it has appeared online via Ucomics/GoComics GoComics is a website launched in 2005 by the digital entertainment provider Uclick. It was originally created as a distribution portal for comic strips on mobile phones, but in 2006, the site was redesigned and expanded to include online strip .... Format ''Compu-toon'' comics consist of a single panel and have a surrealist quality about them that has been described as "baffling and not exactly funny but the cartoonist seems too sincere about his mission to really mock". Strips usually contain a normal situation with a non sequitur that is tangentially related to computers or technology. Charles Boyce
Charles Boyce (born 1949 in Olive Branch, Mississippi), is an American cartoonist known for his syndicated comic panel ''Compu-toon''. Boyce is also known for creating the KeyPad Kid, a cartoon character used in public affairs awareness programs for training within the telecommunication industry. Biography Boyce attended the Memphis Academy of Arts in the 1960s, and in 1969 enlisted in the United States Navy. The ''Compu-toon'' strip ran in approximately 150 newspapers from 1994 until 1997. Boyce is still producing ''Compu-toon'' by way of syndication. Andrews McMeel Syndication distributes it. Boyce resides in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with his wife. Career The cARToon Exhibit Boyce was a part of the cARToon exhibit at the Barrington Area Library in January 2007. The show featured a collection of artwork titled the ''Blues Arrangement Exhibit''.
