Sir Compton Domvile, 2nd Baronet (1696 – 13 March 1768) was an Anglo-Irish politician. Domvile was the son of Sir Thomas Domvile, 1st Baronet and in 1721 he inherited his father's baronetcy. Between 1721 and 1768 Domvile was Clerk of the Crown and Hanaper in the Irish Chancery. He was the Member of Parliament for Dublin County in the Irish House of Commons from 1727 until his death in 1768.E. M. Sir Compton Domvile, 1st Baronet
Sir Compton Domvile, 1st Baronet (c. 1775 – 23 February 1857) of Templeogue and Santry House, County Dublin, was an Irish Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom parliament and Governor of County Dublin. Life He was born the eldest son of Charles Domvile, originally Charles Pocklington, who had adopted the name Domvile after inheriting both the Domvile and Santry estates from his cousin the 4th Baron Barry of Santry and was an MP in the Irish Parliament. Charles was the grandson of John Pocklington, an English-born lawyer who settled in Ireland and became a Baron of the Court of Exchequer (Ireland). His son Christopher married the Domvile heiress. Compton joined the British Army, rising to the rank of captain in the 68th Regiment of Foot in 1808 but left the army in 1810 when he succeeded his father to his estates. He changed his own surname from Pocklington to Domvile in 1814 and was created a Baronet (of Templeogue and Santry House) in the Baronetage of the United Kin ... Admiral (Royal Navy), Admiral Sir Compton Edward Domvile, (10 October 1842 – 19 November 1924) was a distinguished Royal Navy officer in the Edwardian era, Edwardian and Victorian eras. Early life Compton Domvile was born on 10 October 1842 to Henry Barry Domvile (1813–1843) and Frances Domvile (née Winnington-Ingram) (d 1884). He was educated at the Royal Academy, Gosport. Career Early career Compton Domvile joined the Royal Navy in 1856. He served in the Royal Yacht and was promoted to Lieutenant (naval), lieutenant on 28 October 1862. He commanded the steam-gunboat HMS Algerine (1857), HMS ''Algerine'' from 16 April 1866 and was promoted to Commander#Commander as a naval and air force rank, commander on 2 September 1868 for service against piracy. Domvile Baronets (1815 Creation)
The Domvile Baronetcy, of Templeogue and Santry House in the County of Dublin, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 22 May 1815 for Compton Domvile, subsequently Member of Parliament for Bossiney, Okehampton and Plympton Erle. He was the son of Charles Pocklington, nephew and heir of the second and last Domvile baronet of the 1686 creation. Charles Pocklington had assumed by royal licence the surname of Domvile in lieu of Pocklington in 1768 on succeeding to the estates of his uncle.
