Comox—Atlin (electoral District)
Comox—Atlin was a federal electoral district in the province of British Columbia, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1904 to 1917. This riding was created in 1903 from parts of Burrard and Vancouver ridings. The electoral district was abolished in 1914 when it was redistributed into Comox—Alberni and Skeena ridings. Skeena (electoral District)
Skeena was a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1917 to 2004. Geography This was a rural, mostly wilderness, riding in northwestern B.C. It consisted of the northwest corner of the province of British Columbia, including the towns of Prince Rupert, Smithers and Terrace, and Haida Gwaii. History This riding was created in 1914 from parts of Comox—Atlin. It was first used in the 1917 federal election. The district was abolished in 2003. The entirety of this district went to help form Skeena—Bulkley Valley. This is a list of past arrangements of Canada's electoral districts. Each district sends one member to the House of Commons of Canada. In 1999 and 2003, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario was elected using the same districts within that province. 96 of Ontario's 107 provincial electoral districts, roughly those outside Northern Ontario, remain coterminous with their federal counterparts. This is a list of Canada's 338 federal electoral districts (commonly referred to as '' ridings'' in Canadian English) as defined by the ''2013 Representation Order''. Canadian federal electoral districts are constituencies that elect members of Parliament to Canada's House of Commons every election. Provincial electoral districts often have names similar to their local federal counterpart, but usually have different geographic boundaries. Canadians elected members for each federal electoral district most recently in the 2021 federal election on . There are four ridings established by the British North America Act of 1867 that have existed continuously without changes to their names or being abolished and reconstituted as a riding due to redistricting: Beauce (Quebec), Halifax (Nova Scotia), Shefford (Quebec), and Simcoe North (Ontario). William Sloan (September 10, 1867 – March 2, 1928) was a Canadian businessman and Liberal politician. He was Member of Parliament for Comox-Atlin from 1904 until 1909, when he resigned to provide a seat for William Templeman. Born in Wingham, Ontario, Sloan continued to be active in provincial politics, serving as MLA for Nanaimo Nanaimo ( ) is a city on the east coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. As of the 2021 census, it had a population of 99,863, and it is known as "The Harbour City." The city was previously known as the "Hub City," which was ... from 1916 until his death in 1928. Herbert Sylvester Clements (November 8, 1865 – November 30, 1939) was a Canadian politician. Born in Dover Township, Canada West, a manufacturer and farmer, he was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1904 federal election for the Ontario electoral district of Kent West. A Conservative, he was defeated in 1908. He was elected in the 1911 elections for the British Columbia riding of Comox—Atlin. Comox—Alberni was a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1917 to 1979, and again from 1988 to 1993. History This riding was created in 1914 from parts of Comox—Atlin riding. It was abolished in 1976 when it was redistributed into Comox—Powell River and Nanaimo—Alberni ridings. It was recreated in 1987 from parts of those two ridings. Vancouver (electoral District)
Vancouver was a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1872 to 1904. This riding was created for the 1872 federal election, following British Columbia's admission into the Canadian Confederation in 1871, and lasted until 1903. The name of this riding is not derived from the contemporary City of Vancouver, B.C., but from its first incarnation in 1871 as the riding representing Vancouver Island (excepting the Victoria-area ridings). The Vancouver area was part of the New Westminster electoral district at the time of the province joining Confederation. Burrard was a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1896 to 1904 and from 1917 to 1925. This riding was created in 1892 from parts of New Westminster riding. In 1903, this riding was redistributed into Vancouver City, Comox—Atlin and Yale—Cariboo, and was re-created from Vancouver City and Comox—Atlin in 1914.
