Community Health Initiative (CHI)
Impact India Foundation's Community Health Initiative (CHI) covers 1.5 million backward tribals in Maharashtra. CHI aims at the reduction of existing disabilities and incidence of future disabilities through prevention and cure using existing delivery systems and available infrastructure, in partnership with Government, NGOs and local community. CHI has achieved 72% reduction in disability in Thane District, Maharashtra (2005 to 2012), using existing infrastructure and available delivery systems. The CHI is a well-integrated set of ''preventive health programmes'' aimed at the holistic improvement of the health of the community, with specific focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Pediatrics, Newborn & Child Health + Adolescent (RMNCH +A). IMPACT (British Organisation)
IMPACT is an international initiative which focusses on preventive and social health and promote awareness and intervention to prevent avoidable disability. Founded in 1980s by Sir John Wilson, IMPACT was formed as a part of the UN's ''Decade of disabled people''. The UK IMPACT Foundation (UKIF), which is the central organisation to its sister projects over the world, was formally registered as a charity in 1985. The organisation's international programme was formally set up by the United Nations General Assembly supported by the British government. Although it does not receive any financial assistances from these organisations, it is jointly promoted by the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the UNDP. Rubella Vaccine
Rubella vaccine is a vaccine used to prevent rubella. Effectiveness begins about two weeks after a single dose and around 95% of people become immune. Countries with high rates of immunization no longer see cases of rubella or congenital rubella syndrome. When there is a low level of childhood immunization in a population it is possible for rates of congenital rubella to increase as more women make it to child-bearing age without either vaccination or exposure to the disease. Therefore, it is important for more than 80% of people to be vaccinated. By introducing rubella containing vaccines, rubella has been eradicated in 81 nations, as of mid-2020.
