The Communauté de communes des 7 Vallées (also: ''7 Vallées comm'') is a ''communauté de communes'', an intercommunal structure, in the Pas-de-Calais department, in the Hauts-de-France region, northern France. It was created in January 2014 by the merger of the former communautés de communes L'Hesdinois, Canche Ternoise and Val de Canche et d'Authie. Hesdin
Hesdin (; vls, Heusdin) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France. Geography The N39, from Arras to Montreuil, used to be the main thoroughfare of the town. In the 1950s, a circular route was created to help traffic flow. A second bypass was built in the 1980s, taking all through traffic well away from the town centre. The Canche river flows through the centre of Hesdin. History Hesdin was a fief of the counts of Artois, vassals of the Counts of Flanders until 1180. When Philip, count of Flanders gave Artois as dowry to his niece Isabella of Hainault when she married Philip Augustus of France in 1180, Hesdin and the other seigneuries passed to France. At the end of the 11th century, Hesdin gained renown for the park and chateau of Robert II, Count of Artois, which featured the earliest examples of early medieval automata in Europe. Buire-le-Sec
Buire-le-Sec (; pcd, Buire-l'Sé) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region in northern France. Geography Buire-le-Sec is a village situated some 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Montreuil-sur-Mer on the D139 road. Population Sights The church is one of the most beautiful and oldest in the arrondissement of Montreuil. It was built in the 12th century, though all that remains of that church are the foundations. Some 13th century features remain, but mostly it is of 16th century construction (the nave and transept). It is in the form of a Latin cross and built from chalk. The dimensions are: 32 meters long, including 19m for the nave and 7m for the choir. The width of the choir and the nave is 6m, the transept 15.50m in total. The porch has ribbed vaulting. Brimeux
Brimeux () is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region in northern France. Geography Brimeux is a village situated some 4 miles (7 km) southeast of Montreuil-sur-Mer on the D149 road, in the valley of the river Canche. History The village name first appears in 1042 in a royal charter and was then written ''Brivermacum'', a Latin name from the Celtic for ''bridge''. Over the years, it has had different spellings such as ''Brivamagus'', ''Brivomagus'', ''Brimeaus'' (in 1153), ''Brimodio'' and ''Brimodium'' (in 1154), ''Brimaus'' in 1226, ''Brimeul'' in 1415, ''Brimeu'' by 1499, and finally ''Brimeux'', in 1704. When peat was extracted at Brimeux, a 5 metre long wooden deck, a tin dish and flakes of flint were discovered, indicating that Brimeux had been inhabited before the arrival of the Romans.
