The Commissioner's Award is presented annually by the Commissioner of the Canadian Football League to an individual or individuals who have demonstrated dedication and made a significant contribution to Canadian Football. The Canadian Football League (CFL; , LCF) is a Professional gridiron football, professional Canadian football league in Canada. The 2016 CFL season was the 63rd season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 59th Canadian Football League season. Toronto hosted the 104th Grey Cup on November 27. The regular season began on June 23 and ended on November 5. The 2010 CFL season is the 57th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it is the 53rd Canadian Football League season. Mike Morreale
Mike Morreale (born August 10, 1971) is a Canadian former football player and current sports executive. He was an award-winning receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL) before becoming the commissioner of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Early years A graduate of Cardinal Newman Secondary School, where he earned athlete of the year honours and was football MVP twice, Morreale played his university football with the McMaster University Marauders from 1991 to 1994. He finished his Marauder career with 116 receptions for 1,880 yards and a school-record 16 touchdowns and had 217 yards on 27 punt returns and 185 yards on nine kickoff returns. The Canadian Football League Players' Association (CFLPA) represents Canadian football players in the Canadian Football League (CFL). The association was established in 1965, when local lawyer John Agro became concerned by the number of Hamilton Tiger-Cats players approaching him with legal questions about contracts, medical coverage and pensions. All CFLPA presidents have been active or retired CFL players. The first president was Gary Schreider, who had recently retired as a player for the Ottawa Rough Riders upon the union's founding.
