The Commander of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (C-LSK) (Dutch: ''Commandant Luchtstrijdkrachten'') is the highest-ranking officer of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. He reports directly to the Chief of the Netherlands Defence Staff (CDS). The position of C-LSK was created on 5 September 2005 as part of a thorough reorganization within the Dutch Ministry of Defence in which the staffs (military and civilian) were reduced in size and an entire organizational layer was dropped. Before September 2005 the commanding officer of the Air Force was the Bevelhebber der Luchtstrijdkrachten (abbreviated BDL; the term also translates into English as Commander of the Royal Netherlands Air Force). Sander Schnitger
Alexander Schnitger (November 11, 1958 – June 27, 2020) was a general in the Royal Netherlands Air Force who served as Commander of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. Biography Schnitger was born in Rotterdam, and received his military education at the Military Academy in Breda. He continued his training at Sheppard Air Force Base and received his wing in March 1984. Back home in the Netherlands he was appointed pilot at the 314 squadron at Eindhoven Airport. In 1988 he was the team lead of 'Double Dutch' the NF-5 demoteam of the Royal Netherlands Air Force at that time. In 1990 he was trained for the F-16 and assigned to the 312 squadron at Volkel Air Base. In 2001 he was appointed as Planner of the Ministry of Defence (Netherlands). In this capacity he was involved in major restructuring operation of the Dutch Armed Forces. Jac Jansen (born February 29, 1956) is a retired lieutenant general of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF). He was the Commander of the RNLAF from May 2008 until he left the service in 2012, he was director of Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre in April 2012 and left in 2017. As of September 21, 2018 he chaires the Supervisory Board of Royal NLR. Born in Maastricht, Limburg, Jansen enrolled in the Royal Military Academy, Breda as an officer cadet in 1975. General Dick Lodewijk Berlijn (born March 18, 1950 in Amsterdam) is a retired Royal Netherlands Air Force four-star general, who served as Chief of Defence of the Netherlands (Chief of the Netherlands Defence Staff) from 2004, when he succeeded Lt.
