Comic Republic is a Nigerian online multimedia company that primarily focuses on the digital distribution of indigenously created comic books. The company features African people, locales and mythology in much of its published body of work, although this is not an explicitly stated focus of the company. Comic Republic's flagship character is Guardian Prime. On 23 November 2016, Comic Republic was featured as an African Startup by CNN. Lekki
Lekki is a city in Lagos State, Nigeria. It is located to the south-east of Lagos city. Lekki is a naturally formed peninsula, adjoining to its west Victoria Island and Ikoyi districts of Lagos, with the Atlantic Ocean to its south, Lagos Lagoon to the north, and Lekki Lagoon to its east; however, the city's southeast, which ends around the western edge of Refuge Island, adjoins the eastern part of Ibeju-Lekki LGA. The city is still largely under construction, as of 2015, only phase 1 of the project had been completed, with phase 2 nearing completion. The peninsula is approximately 70 to 80 km long, with an average width of 10 km. Comic Book
A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panel (comics), panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. "Comic Cuts" was a British comic published from 1890 to 1953. It was preceded by "Ally Sloper's Half Holiday" (1884) which is notable for its use of sequential cartoons to unfold narrative. Guardian Prime
Guardian Prime is a fictional comicbook character owned by Comic Republic, Comic Republic Global Network. He was created by Comic Republic pioneers Jide Martin and Wale Awelenje as one of three proposed flagship characters for the at-the-time unnamed venture. Guardian Prime briefly appeared for the first time in comic strips attached to movie schedule flyers in Nigerian cinemas. Subsequently, he appeared in ''Might Of Guardian Prime'' Issue 1, Produced by: Jide Martin, Michael Balogun, and the Ezeogu brothers (Ozo and Tobe) Jide Martin, in an interview with ''The Guardian'', said of his motivation to create the character: "I saw that Nigeria was filled with so much negativity.
