Comedy Records
Comedy Records is an independent record label run by Toronto-based comedians Tim Golden and Barry Taylor. The label only releases stand up and sketch comedy albums. Comedy Records currently has offices in Toronto and Miami. History Comedy Records began on July 10, 2010 in Toronto, Canada and was founded by former CFNY-FM personality, Barry Taylor. After being let go from his on-air position in 2009, Taylor began to pursue a career in stand up comedy. One of his early projects was recording a compilation album with ten other up and coming Toronto-based comedians. While looking for distribution, Taylor discovered there were very few labels in Canada releasing comedy albums and the idea for Comedy Records was born. Friend and industry colleague, Joel Carriere agreed to distribute Comedy Records through his label, Dine Alone Records. CFNY-FM (''102.1 the Edge'') is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 102.1 MHz in the Greater Toronto Area, licensed to the suburb of Brampton. CFNY plays an alternative rock format. Owned by Corus Entertainment, its studios are in Downtown Toronto at Corus Quay on Toronto's Harbourfront, and its transmitter is located atop the CN Tower. Dine Alone Records is a Canadian and American independent record label, founded in St. Catharines and Toronto by Joel Carriere. The label is now based in Toronto, Nashville and Los Angeles. History Dine Alone was born out of founder Joel Carriere's home in St. Catharines, Ontario. After years working various positions in the Canadian music industry and building his own cultural website and promotional company, Carriere launched Dine Alone Records in 2005. With a name drawn from the songs "Dine Alone" by the post-hardcore band Quicksand, and a set of founders who had ties to the North American heavy music scene, Dine Alone worked with artists such as The Fullblast, Johnny Truant, City and Colour and Attack in Black. Arthur Simeon
Arthur Simeon is a stand-up comedian based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was born in Kampala, Uganda on November 14, 1983 and attended the prestigious Namilyango College between 1996 and 2001. In the fall of 2001, Simeon moved to Canada to attend university in Peterborough, Ontario. Simeon first tried stand-up comedy as a teenager while attending Trent University. Nick Reynoldson is a Canadian stand-up comedian. Personal life Reynoldson is a comedian born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario. Exclaim Magazine called him “a staple of Toronto's comedy scene" during his New-Faces Showcase at JFL 42. Topics of Reynoldson's comedy include being mixed race, dating, and his love of animals and marine life.
