''Comedy Crackers'' is a Canadian comedy television series which aired on CBC Television in 1970. Premise This series was a follow-up to 1969's '' Comedy Cafe'' which was a local series that was brought to the national CBC network to fill in for the early cancellation '' Barris and Company''. This new series followed a similar format as ''Comedy Cafe'' with its sketches whose themes often reflected the Canadian cultural divide between English and French. Joan Stuart (6 February 1937- 30 October 1996) was a Canadian actress, singer and dancer in television, film and theater. Joan Stuart was an actress, known for Les femmes de 30 ans (1978), Comedy Cafe (1970) and Just Ask, Inc. (1981). Biography Theater Joan Stuart played in "Up Tempo' 59", an off-beat musical revue, at Café André, 2077 Victoria St., Montreal for more than 20 week. There was two shows nightly. Sylvia Gillespie, Frank Blanche and Joan Stuart were among the top rank young actors in the cast. In the summer of 1965, Joan Stuart played with Howard Ryshpan in the play "The Tiger", written by Murray Schisgal, produced by Montreal Instant Theater for Piggery Playhouse Guild inc at "The Piggery-Summer Theater" in North Hatley, inaugurated on August 2, 1965. Ted Zeigler
Theodore Lee Zeigler (June 3, 1926 - December 12, 1999) was an American actor, voice actor and comedian. Early life Born in Chicago, the last of 11 children, Zeigler was the son of a union organizer who was killed by the mafia in the 1930s. His sister Dodie was a Ziegfeld girl and busily worked on stage and on radio. He started working as a fireman at 17, and during the World War II he served in the navy, taking part in the Battle of Okinawa and in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and surviving to a kamikaze attack which had sunk his ship. Career After the war Zeigler graduated in direction and production at the Goodman Theater School, where he became friend with classmate Harvey Korman, with whom in 1954 he formed a short-lived stand-up comedy duo known as Marsh and Field. ''Comedy Cafe'' is a Canadian comedy television series which aired on CBC Television in 1969. Premise This Montreal-produced series featured performers from CBC Radio's ''Funny You Should Say That'' series, namely Barrie Baldaro, Joan Stuart and Ted Zeigler. They were joined by additional performers Dave Broadfoot and George Carron. The series borrowed from material already broadcast on the radio series such as "The Tavern" in which men have a conversation at a bar, or "L'Anglaises" about a French-speaking husband (Carron) and his English-speaking wife (Stuart). Premise Host Alex Barris conducted this live variety broadcast following CBC's hockey games. Alex Trebek was Barris' partner, replaced later on the series run by Janet Baird. The Windsor Hotel (opened 1878, closed 1981) was a hotel located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
