Comedy Central Polska
Comedy Central is a Polish channel focusing on the American counterpart, which was launched on 19 October 2006. It was the first channel outside the United States to use the Comedy Central name and the fourth channel launched by MTV Networks International in Poland. It broadcasts some local TV series and a variety of imported comedy programming, including older sitcoms such as ''The Cosby Show'' and newer series such as ''Sex and the City''. Since 2008 the channel broadcasts Polish shows like ''Włatcy móch'', ''1000 złych uczynków'', '' Camera Café'', ''Kasia i Tomek'', ''Król przedmieścia'' and classic show ''Kariera Nikodema Dyzmy''. On 12 June 2012, Comedy Central Poland, together with its sister channel Comedy Central Family Poland, started broadcasting in 16:9 picture format. 1080i
In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Each of these lines contributes to the overall detail and clarity of the image. The letter "i" stands for Interlaced video, interlaced. This is a technique where the image is not displayed all at once. Instead, the frame is split into two fields. Polsat Comedy Central Extra is a Polish channel focusing on comedy owned by Paramount Networks EMEAA. It was launched on 29 April 2010 as a programming block on VH1 Poland. On 14 January 2011, VH1 Poland was rebranded as Comedy Central Family. On 24 April 2012, VH1 Poland was relaunched, replacing VH1 Europe in Poland. On 12 June 2012, Comedy Central Family started broadcasting in 16:9 picture format. On 3 March 2020 the channel was rebranded Polsat Comedy Central Extra. Comedy Central Family was only available in Hungary until its closedown in July 2024.
